Yes, thank you... those definitely rang a bell when you said them! I've been meaning to try those out, although having already played Black/White, I'm wondering if it'll be worth going through the story again (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Gen 5, but it wasn't such a standout to me that I'm compelled to replay it, not like some other gens).
Not on topic with what I'm quoting, but thank you for stating what you did, Bailey. That's pretty much how I feel on the topic too, I was just a little...uncertain how and if I should voice, it, tbh. This is definitely a legal grey area, but I feel it does more good than harm for the series as a whole so long as the content is different enough to be a unique take on the series and isn't for profit. Their games inspire fans, those fans go make their own content through various means, and that fan content helps keep that passionate flame burning. Some of those fans even go on to work for bigger companies.
Back on topic with what I'm quoting, I can say as someone who's played BB/VW and BB2/VW2 that the games certainly have fresh enough takes on the available pokemon that it can be justifiable to play through them. Drayano's well known for his difficulty hacks of various pokemon games. Some of his personal spins on some of the pokemon are unsurprising (Electric/Dark Luxray), but some of them are just plain crazy (Fighting/Flying Extreme Glass Cannon Farfetch'd, anyone?) And if you don't want to play it blind, he includes documentation of all the pokemon changes, pokemon locations, item changes, etc. His hacks can be pretty dang challenging, too. (Of course, I also think Gen 5 has one of the better stories in the series as far as the game's main story goes, so that helps too) There's also the option of playing without drastic changes to pokemon types, movepools, etc. if you don't fancy unfamiliar territory in battles, but since that basically makes them fairly standard 'full pokedex hacks', that takes a lot of the charm out of the hacks, imo.
