You can steal a new one, you just can't use it in battle unless you discard your old one. Not even illegally - it's just too hard to juggle the items and outfit them properly in such a short time.

So to make absolutely sure, if I taught Shinx Thief, would it be possible for Shinx to steal an item from his target if he were holding the ElectrIzer?

Yep, he could steal it but not use it.

Perfect.  I'll have to address what Nathan did before the Clawitzer Claw dinner in a flashback real quick, then I'll jump right into dealing with the current situation.
