Or you could just let Spiritmon play this how he wants to.  He doesn't have to optimize every little thing.  And he'll be able to get a loooooot of use out of it as a Honedge/Doublade before (and if) it evolves.  By the time it becomes an Aegislash, we'll probably be done with most (if not all) of the gyms.

Aegislash probably isn't legal for the Champion fight either, btw.  League official battle and all that.  And it's pretty much a given that you won't be able to swap pokemon in between Elite 4 battles, which Aegislash definitely isn't legal in.  I suppose you could technically go in with an Aegislash and not use it until the Champion battle...but that doesn't answer the question about whether you can (or should) use it in the Champion battle in the first place.

Mate, it would be remiss of me not to offer my two cents if it could be of help for him. And optimizing gameplay or not, adding another high investment Pokemon when Heart already has others that need the same/similar levels of care sounds......well, like a lot more work and scheduling. Just because I give my own advice, criticism, or word on a matter doesn't mean its wrong or bad for me to do so, nor that anyone has to follow it, let alone listen. So I ask that you don't try to curb me on this, alright?

I'll grant and agree with you that Honedge/Doublade can practically be used in any battle before it evolves, and that the Gyms are liable to be all sorted out by the group when it would finally evolve, but that wasn't the point I was making with them getting one of the spectral swords. If they want one just for its own shake and not actively trying to get Aegislash, then that's more than dandy (if more work), but if they specifically are aiming for and to use the kingmaker, then I say it's not worth it.

As for the whole champeonship process......well, all the more reason not to get an Aegislash if you are correct, in my opinion.
