It's a little less the delay that is giving me worries, but what Windos said is actually pretty true: It's risky as heck for several reasons. I mean, with cloak and trying to blend in as best as possible by talking like they do etc. and being care what to say or show it shouldn't raise too much suspicion, but there's always a chance of the challenged NPC starting to ask questions.
If no Healing Items at all are being used and it's supposed to be a 1vs1 match for Golett it should be doable, to prevent displaying 2017-Pokeballs one can simply approach the camp and search for a challenger with Golett already by one's side and not withdraw him at the end of the match.
Though in the unfortunate case you'll loose, Spirit: You've got any gold to hand to the winner? It's been stated that this is the prize the one who wins the fight gets. I don't want you to loose: Just in case to not get into trouble due to not being able to reward the winner.
