The Yanmega you encounter is normal size for a Yanmega - the gargantuan ones are from the Fossil era, but this one is still pretty big. Especially its jaws - they look so large he has an underbite, and he's flying around snapping up entire Pidgey and Venomoth from the field.

What Pokemon do you send out?

Damage: Strength+3+Charcoal (7D6)
Effect: 1CD to burn, Fist based.

Effect: Target cannot use the last move it performed (in this case, Night Slash) for 4 rounds

Mechanics: If Toya's health gets to 4 or lower Spira will use a Potion on him.

Channel is a word from the newer edition, make sure you aren't using the wrong rulebook. Channel is the same exact thing as Canalize though.

This also would have been a good chance to use at least 3 actions. With 13 dice you could have done 10/9/8 actions and still had excellent chances to crit.

Yanmega's huge jaws stretch out as if springloaded. They snatch up a whole line of smaller bugs and a few leaves and things too! Just an indiscriminate scarfing down of biomass.

Then he flies over Dusknoir and his jaws glow with black light. He chomps down hard on Dusknoir, who shudders in pain as night eliminates shadow.

Toya is caught up in the Yanmega's oversized jaws and shaken back and forth as if by a terrier. If that Lethal damage isn't healed with a Medicine check or a few Potions, he'll continue taking damage over time until he returns to the spirit world permanently.

"All right you over-sized bug, you've pissed me off!" "Toya, shove two Fire Punches down its throat, and don't hold back! Then follow that up with a Thunder Punch! If that doesn't faint it, use Ice Punch! Your orders on Night Slash change; use Disable if it tries Crunch again"
Spira decides to use a Potion on Toya, removing pain and bringing him back to full health!
