And generally, if a pokemon is at half HP or less in the games, non-Z powered Belly Drum will fail (a Z-Belly Drum will never fail because it will fully heal the user before depleting their HP). A Ghost fueled Curse in the games, however, will not and will straight up KO the user.
Maybe that's another reason Belly Drum's drawback is so rigid in the book rules...still think it's almost too risky to be worth it if you don't have an insane amount of bulk and/or a really strong instant HP recovery hold item (like a Sitrus Berry), though. (Or HP draining attacks, I suppose. Belly Drummers don't usually run those in the games, though, so I can't think of any that have access to some off the top of my head).
And the icing on the cake? In our system, Tail Glow is outright better than Belly Drum in every way (besides distribution because TG is a rarer move).
