I'm a little concerned about fleeing to the west. Given that Deoxys is herding the wild pokemon and cut off basically all avenues of escape except that one...
However, the only other major alternative I can think of is we try to hide in the mountains/caves, as running isn't going to be much of an option if we're mountain climbing/spelunking.
In general, I think we need to avoid drawing Deoxys's attention if at all possible.
