There was a bug with the shiny sprites which you can fix with a hotfix update, but even the original 1.2.4 patch allowed you to get a shiny MG.
Guess that means Imma going to have to do a lot of soft reseting in the future, if the sprites look cool enough. Oh well, it'll hopefully be worth the effort!
From what I can tell, none of the Mystery Gift Pokemon have any unique or new stuff, like Shell Smash Cassnail or Regenorater Luxi. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but at least nobody will miss out on anything besides the unique sprite!
Actually, the Masking has two Egg Moves that are currently unobtainable for it in-game -- Yawn (which can't be chained on it otherwise, believe me I tried!) and Telekinesis (which isn't available at all, as it can only be called upon by Metronome)
