At least, that is my take on it, since he said that their wasn't any other ways to evolve other than its Pokerole method awhile back....
Iron just said there'll be one more opportunity for Hida to evolve.
On a similar note...I could technically leave Carvanha in some salt water somewhere and evolve her that way. (And Iron hinted at that in a PM he sent me awhile ago). She probably wouldn't like that much, though...both because of being left to fend for herself (might be able to account for that, though) and because Carvanha hate salt water according to the book. Of course, I'd have to actually have access to a large body of salt water for that to be viable, obviously...which is technically possible, I suppose...
A potential alternative way to evolve her might be...learning to hunt bigger prey on her own. (Also from that same chain of PMs I exchanged with Iron)
Both have their upsides and downsides...
Also on a similar note, this time skipping event is probably also why Iron said that pokemon like Whirlipede which take literal in-game months to evolve can only evolve that way.
