[Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels
There's also some other weird moveset changes in LGPE.  I don't remember all of them off the top of my head, though.  I do know some pokemon can learn what are normally tutor moves at level 1, however (Move Relearner is at the League again...).  Pidgeot can learn Heat Wave with the Relearner, for example (however, Pidgeot also lost Hurricane in LGPE, and is now dependant on Air Slash...but considering it also can't use No Guard in LGPE...).

Flareon is still as reliably unreliable as ever, though.

I think riding Starmie is exclusive to Surfing on it, but still...Starmie?  I mean, it's cool, but...why Starmie?

The Alolans are still decent enough to consider using for the most part, tbh...it's just that Ninetales and Sandslash lost their main niche of Hail abuse, and so are stuck trying to find another one. A-Raichu is fine for the most part since Surge Surfer was never essential for it. A-Marowak, meanwhile...is just screwed. No physical Ghost STAB. No Thick Club. No Rock Head Flare Blitze abuse. No electric immunity from Lightning Rod. It's a bad time to be a Marowak, especially if you're from a tropical island. A-Raticate and A-Persian don't have the Abilities that help make them a decent pick, but the same goes for everything else in LGPE, so...oh, and I don't think A-Exeggutor misses its signature move at all. IIRC, it never uses it in competitive anyways since it primarily uses special sets. And A-Muk? Gets off almost scott free. It's didn't really lose much of anything besides some moves since its Ability didn't have a huge impact on how it played, so I imagine it's still great, especially when it's likely able to act as a reliable check at worst for most of the rampaging Psychic types in Kanto's meta if you don't consider Alolan forms at all (considering the only Steel types are Magnemites, Melmetals, and A-Sandslash and the only Dark types are all Alolans, Psychic types are still very much a force to be reckoned with...).

Oh yes, one more thing I just remembered about LGPE's convenience changes: you can also rename your pokemon at any time (still has to have the same trainer OT, obviously).  Name Rater isn't a thing at all in LGPE!  Huzzah!

I'm definitely hoping some of the more well received changes will carry over to Gen 8.  I could get behind Teleport having a niche, Beedrill still being able to use Outrage, and nicknames being able to be changed at any time you like.

Solar Beam and Sky Attack should probably be returned to their normal power when ways to fire off their powerful strikes without needing to charge are back in the game in Gen 8, though.  (mainly looking at Sunny Day for Solar Beam, obviously)

All in all, if I can put LGPE in a neat little package, tie it shut with a bow, and label it as something, it's certainly 'the original Kanto adventure reimagined'.  I think that's what they were going for, and I think they've nailed it.  Casual experience or no, it's a pleasant trip through Kanto which certainly offers a...fresh take on how you prepare for the competitive scene if you get into it.  (though I'm not sure Smogon is going to add a battle format specifically for LGPE's weird, very exclusive meta). Or at least, from what I've experienced and read about it so far, that's the impression I've gotten.
