Spira thinks to himself that he needs a better way to communicate with the party and considering the fact he's already at a PC, he checks to see if there's anyone that could help.... "Let's see... Professor Mallorn? Huh." *clicks on that PC* "Pokemon Professor, selling Pokedexes?" Spira sends this professor an email:

"The Mallorn Pokedex is the 8th wonder of the world, boss! It has all the capabilities of a modern phone, plus information on over 700 species of Pokemon! Once you own one, you'll be automatically sent $50 for every new species you capture and scan with it. The Pokedex is $1500; I'm sure you'll find that it pays for itself in no time! It also has a black and white camera, a B button for canceling evolution, a radio, a basic TV, and can swap Pokeball registration. Oh, and it updates automatically and wirelessly."

Spira does the quick math to figure out it'd take 30 Pokemon to break even on the investment, then replies to the message with "Alright, I'll buy one!" -1500$ As soon as he gets it he'll see what it says about Linkite and scan the rest of his current party with it.

A magnificent Rapidash rides up an hour later bearing a package for you. It licks your hair and rides off.

Inside is the Pokedex, each panel rimmed with holographic trim. It has loads of info on the movelists and evolutions and care of all your current Pokemon. It beeps to acknowledge an update about Magcargo and the Magmarizer. When you scan Linkite, it beeps and displays an error. Then it asks you to input data on this Pokemon or to describe what happened when the error occurred.

"Let's see here..." Spira fidgets with the Pokedex to input the data, "Species Name; Linkite, Physical description; Main body takes on the form of a strange doll (Substitute doll) and has a chain wrapped around it attached to a secondary part of the body that looks like a Pokeball."

"Thank you for your contribution, POKEMON TRAINER SPIRA." $50 is credited to your account, even though you didn't capture Linkite while you had the Pokedex. 

From now on, remember to give yourself $50 whenever you catch a new Pokemon.
