She was......crushed when she realized you all were going to be MIA indefinitely, and since then has always been grim and dim when dealing with others not named myself or her other partners. Maybe now, our little Dragons can finally lighten up a little, yeah?"

Bringing up the prospect of a real battle causes a literal sparks to come to Lucy's eye along with the rest of her body, with her arcing both her upper body and Electrical power upwards, followed by letting out an frenetically thrilled *CCCCRRRRRAAAAAWWW!* She too is eager to show off her all her hard earned Thunderous might she's obtained over the years to her fellow dragoness, so your announcement is like the High Quality Dragon Rations you gave her! Plus, given the almost tangible aura of Strength and toughness coming off not only Kingdra, but Reiner too, maybe in this match she can actually let lose her full and unadulterated POWER without summarily electrocuting her opponents to oblivion!

Taylor has a much less enthusiastic reaction to full on Fighting you at, turning towards you with both eyebrows raised and a thoroughly thoughtful frown. No matter how censored or light on detail Kyubi was with recounting her older partner's exploits this week, the fire fox DID inform her of them, and they all painted Reiner as not the somewhat novice but upcoming Dragon Tamer she grew up with, but a complete BOSS of a Dragon Master that was so badass he ate up adversity, shitted out success, and scared literal blood sucking boogywoman. Heck, they took on what sound like a rioded up Elderitch Bug from beyond and smashed its bloody face into the curb!! After hearing all that, she'd have to be out of her gord to seriously accept a actual Fight with him!!!

Which is why after giving it some more thought, the thief extraordinaire threw back her head and laughed up a veritable Thunderstorm, before gracing you with a familiar spine tingling savage grin and deviously gleaming eyes.

"You know what? If my girl is down with Fighting you lot of super duper trainers, then I'm game too! Fair warning, though, partner: I battle like I do my thieving. If you two are looking for a honorable, straightforward fight, you clearly have the sort of expectations that need adjusting, and I'm not doing that for ya! Knowing that, ya still wanna Fight me?"

One thing to add about Kingdra: starting at when she learns what happened to Lucy and until she fully Cottenees on that they laid an Egg, she become FURIOUS at the Elders. I'm not just talking furious, but FURIOUS. Full steam, high boil, and roiling RAGE of both a Dragon and a woman incited. The whole nine yards of wrath, squared. Yeah, she's THAT mad. Which, considering what happened to her best friend, is perfectly reasonable.

However, due to being so overwhelmingly happy because of her reunion with Lucy, just having a vigorous bout of play fighting, and wanting to be there for them, she is able to fully restrain her temper without major intervention, and have a more subdued reaction to the news without blowing. Make no mistake, though, she was still FURIOUS, and now had newly enliven and visceral desire to blast those old bastards to smithereens, but she was doing an excellent job of controlling her RAGE and marshaling most it away. Lucy nor Taylor pick up on this, but obviously Reiner does, and especially Weavile (Who preemptively slunk behind cover without drawing attention, then came back out just as discretely when he realized Kingdra was not going to OUTRAGE.)

Your old partner's reaction to the her tale recounting is the same sort of anger she showed back in the living room: great and terrible, but lurking just beneath the surface of outward grim calmness. Lucy, though.....she shuddered throughout the story, a haunted look that dimmed her eyes as she settled back down on the ground and withdrew into herself until the you stopped talking about it. The former's reaction was expected, but the later's.....wow. What the hell did those Elders do to her?

What drew the Stormbringer out of her.....funk (Thankfully) was you mentioning and then presenting her Egg to her, bringing it to her attention and out of those memories. The thunder dragoness eyed her offspring with.......uneasy love was the best you could describe it, then giving you a long measuring look that made you straighten up and sweat a little. A minute of Lucy staring you down....before she closed hers eyes, took in a deep breath, and nodded, rumbling out with indescribable emotion but her eyes showing certainty with her decision.

Giving up her firstborn was not an easy choice......but keeping and raising them was a harder for her. No matter how much maternal love she held for her welp, she just......just couldn't raise them with the fullness of care required. Not without the......reason of their existence stalking her very thoughts, and marring the bond between them. So, instead of subject her welp to in-adequate care, she is entrusting them to someone who she knows would do a good job raising her right without judgement and only compassion: you. 

Kingdra is able to perfectly understand her fellow dragoness' reasoning and be greatly sympathetic to their plight but still happy about the occasion, but I will any modification/addition to her reaction in your hands Dragonstrike, since you've been doing a good job of that so far. That, and it makes its all the more meaningful if you're the one writing it...

Yes, the Egg is hatching. As if it witnessed their mother relinquishing it into you care and immediately it had to meet its new daddy RIGHT NOW.
......? ...!
First, the * C R A C K * resound throughout the room, sounding exactly like a crack of lightning rather than a shell breaking apart, and a jagged fissure ran down laterally across its middle.
...! ...!!
A deep, burning orange light began seeping through the fissure, and the Egg started to violently shake, nearly jerking it and the incubator right out of your hands, forcing you to get a tighter grip on it! 
!!!
Sounds of crackling light once more echoing out as the smaller cracks began radiated from the central fissure, more and more of the burning orange light spilling out with great intensity. 
!!!
The air in the room, once calm and stagnate, rapidly whipped up into fast and vigorous wind currents that threatened to blow everyone off their feet, save for you, as it seemed you were right in the eye of the storm.

....And the next thing you know, the Egg explodes.

The sound, the light......it is deafening and blinding, yet strangely not painfully so.

Your senses are overload, and for what seemed like an eternity you are trapped within your own mind.
.......................Daddy?
A voice. You hear a voice.
...................Daddy! Daddy!
Instantly, you regain awareness of your surroundings. 

The entire Training Room.......it looked like a tornado torn through it. All the equipment was upended, trashed, and scattered about, all of it now laying disheveled across almost the entirety of the room, except the area directly around you. 

Everyone single living being was in a similar state of affairs, bowled over by the Egg's explosion, and all of them were Fainted. 

Except for you. You were still standing tall, appearing none worse off from the Egg's hatching besides some wind ruffled clothing.

Huh? Its....that voice! You almost forgot about it from from all the excitement!

There it is again! And its call you.....daddy? Wha-

You feel something squirming in your hands, and your attention is immediately directed toward them......and the answer to everything.

Cradled in your grasp, was a Volchick.

Correction: A very odd looking female Volchick, looking at you with eagerness and total adoration only a child has for its parents, letting out a happy chirp now that you were looking at her.

One that was radiating a IMMENSE amount of Power, too boot. 

Gone was usual black and yellow colora scheme of the species. Its head and claws were painted a light, almost faded green, and its black body a darker, more vibrant green., with the only golden yellow remaining as an outline on the 'lips' of her beak. Her wing's arches were evergreen, and her feathers a bright gold-orange that appear to be glowing, if the faint light emanating from them is any indication. The only features that remained similar to her species' norm was the furred collar and storm cloud tail, but even those had their notable differences, with the collar and tail shimmering evergreen when light shone on her, and the tip of her tail was dully glowing the same gold-orange color as her wings. Last but not least, were her eyes and chest emblem. The eyes were almost entirely light red, save for the pupils, which were light yellow, while the emblem.....



Was unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Daddy!
That voice jolts you out of your analysis of your Volchick, causing you to instinctively look about the room for its source.....
.....Daddy? Daddy?
.....aaaand inevitably finding yourself looking back down at Volchick, who was wiggling in your grasp and looking at you with honest curiously.

...
...Your baby Volchick is talking to you. And thinks you are her daddy. And, based on all the evidence you've gathered thus far, was responsible for wrecking the Training Room and KOing everyone but you and her. By the mere fact of her hatching.

.........Well, say what you will, but the Elders did a bang up job of breeding Lucy's child.

Reiner smiks when Lucy's energy rubs off on Taylor.  "Yup, definitely sure we want to try battling you guys.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you're capable of after all this time.  But again, we'll get to that in a second."

Not much more to say here for now.  Moving on to the sections that literally took me several hours to type up!

I think I've found a suitable variation of the Song of Storms that can cover both this part and the aftermath of the egg hatching!

Oh yeah, Kingdra is definitely F U R I O U S.  That's pretty much a given.  There is one major difference about her anger this time, though: it's more focused, less indiscriminate.  And that's why she's able to control it.

For so long, her anger had been less directed, more wild.

Now, it finally has a specific target, a direction.

Reiner had made attempts to try and teach Kingdra how to control her anger in the past, direct it in more useful ways, but they all ultimately ended in failure.  As Kingdra did not truly understand why the Elders had taken Lucy, she unleashed her anger on the world, losing much of the nobility that she'd had originally in the process.  Any righteous fury more common of more noble Dragons had been overshadowed by the wild, near uncontrollable rage of the most dangerous Dragons instead...and despite Reiner's best efforts, any attempts to coax her back to her more noble origins over the last few years were futile.  It is why she razed half of Blackthorn in her anger four years ago, as she was unable to properly cope with the immense amounts of primal, draconic R A G E she now fully possessed...

After reuniting with Lucy, though, it's helped her regain some of it.  And after seeing Lucy decide once and for all that yes, the egg would be better off if left with Reiner, it's what finally makes it click for Kingdra.  Both that the Egg is a grim reminder of what happened, and that Lucy only wants what's best for her child, even if it means making sacrifices...

Lucy never really lost her own nobility.  Despite everything she's suffered, all the dignity she's lost, all the things she wishes she could keep...she's still the same Dragon she was before: A Dragon that knows she's strong, but also knows her own limits, knows when she should unleash her full might and when she should hold back. A Dragon who knows both when to take and when to give...

Areas that Kingdra had been lacking in over the last four years.  Were it not for Reiner's own judgement and careful handling of her over the last few years, the two of them would both be in much deeper water than they already are.

This realization helps Kingdra to control her own anger, redirect it.

Resolve to not lose herself to anger again.  For if she's going to help Reiner with raising Lucy's child in the mother's place, then the LAST thing she wants to do is harm or frighten the chick by doing exactly that.  And there's only ONE set of foes that truly deserve her ire for everything that happened...it was never Blackthorn's fault.  Never Katsuo's.  Never Clair's.  Never Taylor's, even though it was her choice.

Kingdra has learned Dragon Rush EX for 88 EXP.  There is no longer any danger of her learning Outrage spontaneously.  From this point on, her righteous fury shall Flinch foes into submission and Knockdown all who stand in her and Reiners' way.  She still retains her general personality, obviously, but she'll generally only get super angry if it's well and truly deserved now.

For that is the way of a Noble Dragon.  Mighty as they are, even the most powerful moves can't solve everything through sheer strength alone...

...and it's all thanks to Lucy that Kingdra is finally fully in control of herself, instead of the raging, primal Dragon within always threatening to wrest what control she had away from her...

And because Lucy was unable to stand up for herself, Kingdra will stand up for her.  And also for Lucy's child.

And Reiner.  Always for Reiner, for they're practically siblings.  Heck, you could even say Kingdra almost considers Lucy her sister, too.

And that's what family is for, right?

The silence resounds for who knows how long.  All Reiner can hear is a ringing in his ears at first.  The explosion, the wind...

...it's a great thing that this room is soundproofed, right?

...and then that voice, that awareness, brings him back to his senses.

As Reiner opens his eyes and looks around the room, seeing all the devestation, he can't help but wonder out loud, "...what the hell just happened...?"

And then the voice speaks again.  Were it not for how...different it sounded, he might have mistaken it for another...it sounds so strange, yet...familiar...and it's saying...

...Daddy?

When Reiner looks down and sees the squirming, adorable, primarily green Volchik in his arms, it comes rushing back.

The Egg.

Lucy's Egg.

It hatched.

Its cracks sounded like Thunder and Lightning, the raw energy pouring out from it whipped up a howling gale in less than a second...

.....Daddy? Daddy?


The voice interrupts all other trains of thought, though, despite that emblem on Volchik's chest demanding attention [an emblem that Taylor might very well recognize, given what it represents and where she's been...].  Wait, does that voice belong to...?

The Volchik chirps curiously, followed by another...

.....Daddy?

...the voice isn't vocal.  It's telepathic!  And as that realization dawns on Reiner, he feels just how much power this Volchik is radiating...

.....Daddy? Daddy?

That last one snaps Reiner out of that realization.  He's holding a newborn child, and she's expecting attention.  At least, that's what it seems like...?

"...sorry, little one.  Give me a sec...you, uh...made quite an entrance...heh...didn't think Taylor's warning about female Volchik getting into more interesting kinds of trouble would be so relevant so soon...looks like I need to help clean up this mess you made...oh, right.  You're probably hungry, aren't you?"  *kneels down and digs around in his bag for a sec, then holds out some HQDRs in an open palm to Volchik*  "...here ya go.  Should be both nourishing and delicious."

*chirp!*  Daddy!

Reiner's not entirely sure how much of that the newborn birdie understood, but while she's (presumably) munching on those HQDRs, Reiner will go over to Taylor and see if trying to jostle her awake has any effect.  "Taylor.  Taylor.  Come on, Taylor, I need you to be conscious..."  If that doesn't work...where's Mr. Mime?  Is he still in the room and KOed like everyone else was?  Or did he manage to Teleport away to a different room before the worst part of the storm hit?
