Plus, usually you can expect a few rampages and disqualifications and hilarious disobedience! Especially in the early rounds. The later rounds are winnowed down to the best trainers of the best.

Nathan, your opponent is an Ace Trainer named Renault. He just steeples his fingers at you when you meet, but he does look pretty strong under his cloak.





Spira is fighting a nervous Gentleman, Ennesby, who freely admits he didn't make it past Area 3. He may not have rare Pokemon but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be strong.
