Given how reluctant that Shinx looks to battle, it should be clear to Spira that the little electric lion cub's Ability is Rivalry, not Intimidate. Shinx is looking back at Nathan as if to say 'Do you really want me to fight that pokemon?'

And it is; "Hmm... Thought an electric-type would be more thrilled to fight a flying-type, unless..." *chuckle* "Of course, Rivalry, while a useful ability, it has its downfalls."
