So, the logical conclusion is that something needs to be inserted into the hole to deactivate the force field. And it has to be a snug fit, so it's not one of the Pokeballs on the desk.
The fact that only one of them contains a pokemon, though, and that pokemon just so happens to be the Barrier pokemon...
...it probably isn't a coincidence.
Nathan turns to Heart (@Spiritmon). "Get your Ghosts ready, just in case. I'll have Grid's pokeball ready on my end. Gallade, hang back for now. Calam, be ready to act. However this barrier is disabled, it probably has something to do with the Mr. Mime. It could be something to do with Mr. Mime's abilities, or it might be holding an item."
