I myself don't play the main series competitively since SM came out I guess - except for Little Cup, which I still played for some time -, although I still watch some content related to it. But as you see, Uranium for me is a completely different story. It's thrilling to explore the possibilities Uranium gives you.

I wonder if that's because Uranium is a completely different kind of metagame than the main series?  A lot of the good pokemon in Smogon OU tend to stay there, so it can start feeling a bit samey after a generation or three of playing with the same mons with only a few changes to the core teams.

Heck, the pre-bank metas tend to be pretty interesting in and of themselves, tbh.  And I think that's particularly evident in the VGC nowadays, too.  Once the floodgates are reopened and everyone can use their tried and true favorites (or just the most powerful stuff) again, things start looking very similar in the top ranks...

End of the day though, it is just my opinion (to a degree), I guess.
