[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(05-29-2019, 12:07 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: Look, I've got a serious question for everyone.

How much do you REALLY care for Nathan's goals?  Is it really just me who wants to really see this through for the sake of achieving a goal my character has had for the entire campaign?  Because that's what it feels like right now, if I'm being honest.

Nathan can't do this alone, guys.

.....Honestly, I DO care about Nathan being reunited with Marco (and so does Terra), but not enough where I'm willing to put Terra at such a grave risk in order to rescue him. If the threat of getting hogtied and turned into a Kadabra for the length of time necessary to explore/find Marco (If he's alive/unKadabraed) is essentially zero, I'm willing to motivate my chara. enough get over his fears and help what he consider his best friend, but otherwise....I'm sorry, but no. As I said, I draw a hard line on some stuff that I/Terra are not willing to put up with, and Transformation/Mind Wiping are some of those things.

That, and I was always one of the advocates that plainly stated we should wait until after dealing with the Treasure Hunt and Deoxys before we double back to the Skull Ruins and save Marco, as we're no longer on a timeline and most likely don't have the Scims. to worry about. I'm not unhappy that we ended up being able to visit KCs without conflict, heck no, but.....well, I do think its a fairly unnecessary diversion at this point in the campaign unless Marco greatly improves the group's odds (Again, If he's functional in some way) when the charas. should be rushing/plodding through the Ruins for the Treasure to stop the Big Bad Deoxys, as saving one person vs saving millions favors saving the many over the few imo.

I am wondering though why half the group doesn't seem to want to fully commit to helping Nathan with one of his biggest and most important goals for his entire journey right before the most important part of achieving said goal.  We're so close now...if we stop, why did we even go to the Kadabra Chambers in the first place?  What happened to working together as a team and having each others' backs?

Even Cosh thinks that finding Marco and getting his help is a good enough idea to risk going to the KC.  Having an ally that's comparable to having an Elite 4 member by your side is not something to overlook, particularly in a place like the Skull Ruins.

Do you understand why Terra doesn't want to venture into the Kadabra Ruins? Because his reasons are pretty good in avoiding that place with a ten-thousand yard stick.

I think any motivation to continuing exploring the KCs at the basis of 'We've already spent some much to get here' without a clear concrete guarantee/clue that Marco is actually alive/usable is an example of the sunk cost fallacy in action. Yes, stopping and abandoing the KCs now would be a waste in one aspect, but at least our charas. won't lose out on anything else should they have continued to invest and invest in a hazardous course of action. That, and between the lore Knowledge and the gobbs of XP everyone got from fighting the Kadabra, just the progress currently made now has paid for the time/effort necessary to get into the KCs.

Look, I ALWAYS want to work with you/everyone else, Dragonstrike, but in this case I have my reasons for staying out of this matter, and I'm sticking to them unless Iron makes it pretty clear I should go with you/the group unless I want to deal with whatever punishments he wants to cook up for me staying out of it. The cost of lingering around the KCs is just too much for me.

And I can't help but wonder: why do I have to ask those questions?

Terra first stuck to the group because it was his job, and later on stuck with them because he see them as his friends and VERY important people he wants to help and defend at all costs. Shiva's sticking around probably because she rather not go it alone and she actually like being with the group (in her own ways) despite the chara. conflict, Heart is great friends with everyone and his own goals align with that of the groups (currently), and Spira is sorta stuck with the group due to him being so temporally dislocated that he can't really function by himself in the current era without someone giving him pointers on how things currently work.

Because we players are known to be conflicting, flanky, and generally uncooperative at the worst of times, and you/Nathan have suffered what I consider the brunt of our bad behavior, so naturally you are wondering if its worth it to stick it out with us. At least, that's my perspective on the matter.

It doesn't work, he doesn't count as a Pokemon yet.

Reminds me of when Kyubi was first revived in the CCV campaign.  She wasn't fully a pokemon any more, so any pokeballs Reiner and co. tried to capture her in would just end up fried because they couldn't process the data due to the human DNA she had gained.

Another unintentional element that crosses over campaigns! Woohoo!
