Candice frowns and drops her cutesy act entirely.  If there's one thing she takes seriously besides Pokemon Battles, it's her job.

"...no, I haven't heard about what's happening at Mt. Coronet recently.  Tell me the details."

She listens veeeeerrrrryyyy carefully to what Randolph has to say and takes a minute to think about her response.

She only says one thing in response.

"...fight me and my pokemon first.  If you can't beat me in a Gym Battle, I won't be able to let you go in there in good conscience.  Even if Professor Rowan faith in your abilities, I need to see it for myself before I can give you access to the Temple."

You heard the woman!  Does Randolph accept the challenge?

'....So that ice cream sweet persona of hers was a ruse all this time. ....Heh, she fooled me pretty good, so I say it must be working out for her exceptionally well. Vielleicht ist das Mädchen doch frostig...."

He has to try hard NOT to smile at her change in attitude. It wouldn't give the right impression, after all.

Unlike her, he doesn't need to think over his decision, only giving Candice a solemn nod.

"Fair enough. I accept your bargain. My investigations won't do me any good if I get myself or my partners killed while snooping around, so making sure I can handle the wee beasties of the Temple by having a row with ya is a sound idea. Can ya promise me this, though, Candice: If I can't explore that place for answers, you'll get someone to do it at some point. This is problem with Mt. Coronet is a bigger problem than anyone of us, I fear, and it'll need to be dealt soon if we don't want our homelands to go hell in a hand-basket. Or worse."

*Shakes head* 

" If ya can't do that, however, I understand. This whole rotten deal ain't your problem unless you're begging for it, and I shan't force it on ya if you don't want anything to do with it.
Frankly, I wouldn't blame ya if you told me to fuck off now and stop bothering you or Snowpoint about this. I certainly don't want to deal with this myself, but I have to, 'cause if nobody does anything about it, nothing is going to get done about it but jack all."

Well, this is....uncharacteristically diplomatic of Randolph. He's pretty much giving her an out dealing with this whole mess. Guess despite his desires to solve this problem and get his job done, he doesn't want to drag anyone else into it unless they're good, ready, and willing to.

If she still wants to battle him, though, he'll make his way to his side of the arena, and his first choice of Pokemon will be Puck. Ready to begin when you are.....or not!
