Ran's a fairly frugal man, but he ain't a cheapskate when it comes to his friends! He'll pay $1200, $1500, and $1500 for Byron's, Roarck, and Mystery Person's gifts, respectively, because they DESERVE as quality product he can reasonably afford! I'll let you determine what Gemstone sends to Roark (As Ran would know what they like and which gemstones he doesn't already have), and he'll send that and Mystery Person's gift to their PCs ASAP with the messages I specified! Byron's will have to wait until later, but it should be worth it!

As for the Type Gems, he'd be fairly interested in them (As he's heard rumors about how good they can be), and would go over to the Sales Associate and asked if he could buy 3 Dark Gems, 2 Ghost, Normal, and Fire Gems, and 1 Fairy and Steel, for a total of $3200 Poke. 1 of the Dark Gems is going to be offered to Diam to 'try out' (Read: On nom nom nom) to see what happens after the purchase, as he's curious what a Type Gem would do for her. 

(Note: He'll have her 'Try Out' the gem well far away and outside the jewelry store, as if he lets her out in there she's going to cause problems, one way or another! Unless a Sableye's bite marks on gemstones increases their value in this universe, like it did in Iron's, but even then it be terribly rude to let THAT happen, so he won't.)

Finally, as he purchases the Type Gems, a thought suddenly strikes him: 'Wait a minute......Dragons love wealth and treasure. Especially gold and gems. Hmm....maybe Zorn would appreciate a gift from here. Deserve one for helping me win our match, at the very least....'

With that fancy crossing his mind, he asks the Sales Associate if he could also buy a Dragon Gem and have it set in a 'cool/tough' looking gold necklace. If that's feasible, it would be a fitting present for the Mean Dragon, one that he could easily carry around without worrying about where he's going to hold/horde it. How nice, convenient, and thoughtful of Ran!

Though he was the last person someone would call sociable or the most understanding of others, even he could tell a smidgen of what's bothering Zorn, which just manages to confuse him.

".....I'm going to take a wild stab, and guess you're down in the Muk dumps 'cause you found your tussles against Candice frosty 'Mons to be wanting? *Shakes head* If that be the case, can ya tell me why? Frankly, you did plum excellent against them, and helped us all earn a big fact victory against Miss Jackie Frost, so I don't figure what's bothering you about ya performance....."

In an effort to better understand Zorn (and others in general), Ran Insight increased by 1 for 30 XP, giving him 4 Insight! Now his more of a wise guy than ever!

For $1500, that's gonna be a shard of a beautiful Moon Stone, too broken up to be used for evolving anything, but still large enough to be a pretty setpiece. This store also sells Evolutionary Stones, though they can get to be quite pricey when you start talking about whole, usable versions of the rarer ones...

Fortunately, the store has juuuust enough Type Gems available for that purchase (they have 3 of each in stock).  Each Gem comes in a case like this one:

To make a custom piece of jewelry for Zorn using a Dragon Gem...let's say $1100-2100.  Again, that's for the 'affordable' range (500-1500 Necklace + 400 Gem + 200 Custom Job).  If you want to pay more for a fancier piece of jewelry, feel free to do so.  And once again, since this is a custom job, it'll take them some time to complete it (it'll be done after encounter 1 tomorrow)

Nothing of any particular note seems to happen when Diam eats the Dark Gem.  She does think it's rather tasty, though.

She can also somehow tell that Randolph has more of them on his person, and is eagerly trying to get into his bag to 'find' them.

Zorn's response: suddenly turning around and angrily punching the wall!!  Puck starts, turns around, and starts watching Zorn muuuch more carefully.

He seems to be...frustrated?  Yeah, definitely frustrated.  Given how Zorn completely deflates after venting that frustration, though...well, he's probably not angry and frustrated at the wall.  That wouldn't make sense.  Ran knows that Zorn has a tendency to vent his anger on the things that made him angry in the first place, though...so what's causing him to be so frustrated?  It definitely has something to do with the battle against Candice...and yup, Zorn definitely found something wanting with his performance in that battle...but what?
