As Shiva reaches out for the Shield, the golden band appears and wraps around her arm. Your sixth sense can feel that golden band of light melding with your own soul, which does not feel very good. Luckily, the feeling soon fades, though the attunement is ongoing for the next couple Encounters.
Once fully bonded, you think you'll be able to release the band, but it will drift closer and closer to you. You'll basically have just one hand available from now on, though you can set the Shield aside temporarily.

Eeeek. It feels like an intruder now and Shiva does not really enjoy anything tampering with her soul. But, it's a feeling she never felt before and she hopres that she'll get used to it. Now she also wonders what will happen once Deoxys is defeated successfully, whether the Artifact will 'notice' this and release itself again....?

One mechanical question too f I may ask, can I make use to that Shield in EVERY Encounter or is there some risk of it being worn out and therefor being weaker a the showdown against Deoxys? (...)it can't prevent attacks from too many different sources, a limit we think around a dozen(...) seems to hint that it's the latter case, is that right?

It's an Artifact, so it never runs out of energy or effectiveness. The limit is a dozen attacks AT ONCE.

I also forgot to mention that it's more effective at preventing Psychic attacks, and those limits will disappear entirely.
