Juhani is reeeeaaaaallly awkward when it comes to receiving human affection.  She doesn't bite, but it still makes her a little uncomfortable.  It's not something she's used to any more, but it's not something she's entirely unfamiliar with, either.  She relaxes a lot once Kee withdraws his hand.

This.... This behaviour from the snowy turtle is actually highly worrying for Kee. He does withdraw his hand quickly and makes a mental note of not petting (or, not touching even) for the time being, but it'll be on his mind as he proceeds to people-watch here at the port. Octavia jumps in offers herself to be stroked and petted to heart's content, which he eventually does somewhat absent-mindedly. She makes sure that this special Grotle sees her glance saying 'See? There's nothing bad about this, it's nice!~'.

Well, at least the turtle didn't slap Kee's hand away when trying to make first contact like a particular other Pokemon of his. There's hope!

Ninetales moves between Kee and the eggs before the colorful trainer can pick one.  "Ah ah ah, not so fast.  Ninetales and the father still need to test and observe you and your pokemon before we can give you the youngun'.  I think Ninetales wants to see how that Shiny Sylveon of yours handles herself in a battle.  So, how about it?  A quick 2v2 double battle with no fainting allowed.  I use Ninetales and the father, you use Sylveon and another pokemon of your choice.  That change your mind any?"

Damn, in the end he did accidently agitated that kitsune-mother by being a tad too forward, as the fox moves in front of him, he almost immediately backs off. If there is one thing he does NOT suffer, then it's the grudge of an adult Ninetales mixed with the wrath of a protective mum.

But he quickly recovers and lights up again. "Ohhhhh, good call, a good call indeed, ya wanna make me EARN one of the Eggs, now do ya?~ How clever of ya Felix, and yes I am still interested, these battle conditions sound all fine." At these words from her papa, Octavia tonelessly whines a little and ducks deeper into his bag with only her eyes fixed on that Ninetales. Like, you want to make me battle this firerly fox? (> □ < l|l) "Yes I will, and you will do well. Calm down again..." is what Kee quitely responses.

Oh right, and he's super-curious about getting to see who the father is of the Vulpix is! His half-smug smile neatly expresses that. "Well then, we've got a deal then. But... should we go and find some spot to battle where we're safe from all that hail? I'd prefer to, but it's up to ya."
