When Randolph cleans it off properly, he's unmistakably holding a beautiful, almost pristine piece of amber, something which would have been a rare find back in the days of Randolph's prior occupation, and it's definitely something that he'd recognize.
What appears to be a small insect of some kind can also be seen in the gemstone.
As for the rocks in the surroundings, now that Randolph looks at it more carefully...there's a LOT of different kinds of rocks on this floor. Way too many types for it to be a natural occurrence of any kind. The Snowpoint Temple itself (walls, ceiling, pillars, and all), conversely, is made of the same grey stone all throughout.
Diam is definitely eyeing up that piece of amber when Randolph asks her about whether there's any treasure around, not looking for any other sources of wealth/sustenance. As for whether she senses anything 'supernatural'...she shrugs. She's not entirely sure...
