Wouldn't be too hard (or expensive) to just keep a Pokemon Status before/during a battle, especially if you get a Pokemon with Aromatherapy/Heal Bell to act as Cleric or in the case of Burn have a Water type put it out after a fight. With that in mind, you might want to invest in teaching Nagi Wil-lo-wisp at some point, Spiritmon .
Depends on the status, Ability, the personality of the pokemon, and how well the pokemon has been treated.
Feeling sick, numb, frozen solid, or literally on fire for longer than a short span of time would take its toll eventually, though, for obvious reasons.
Statusing a pokemon with one of your own also requires the target's consent, though it's not an issue as long as the pokemon is both treated well and Loyal.
