"Ah yes, Karen and Kogeki.  Much like yourself, Lucas recommended I hire Karen.  He's a good judge of character in my professional opinion, and I'd be ill advised to ignore his advice.  Lucas was only 10 when he ascended Mount Coronet for the first time, so I have no reason to believe age to be a hindrance, young or old, so long as one is of an age where they are able to go on an adventure in the first place.  As for Kogeki, he's been working for me as a bodyguard for some time now.  I have faith in his skills, and plenty of reason to trust he'll get the job done.  If that is all, then we are done here.  I trust you'll get this job done as well."

"Oh, I know. I'm just choosing not to with you, Rowan. "

Cool and heated is Randolph's tone, it is. 

"*Scoffs, shaking his head* Of course you'd think that little kiddie winks are fit for this sort of grueling odyssey, or wandering around Sinnoh without much supervision for that matter. Just cause a child CAN pull off herculean task or CAN go on epic journeys doesn't mean they should or should be expected to, Rowan. This region, the entire world, and the children themselves would be greatly better off if they ever got that idea through collective thick skull and was made to wait until they're grown before they're allowed to own a Pokemon, much less go out and try to make a name for themselves, like that even matters. Some psychological and background checks for a Trainer would also be a nice thing to implement, as that'd likely cut down on all the wanna and actual crook and terrorist groups 'n Teams that seem to pop up like Diglets every half decade or so. "

*Shakes head*

"...But none of that ain't gonna happen anytime soon, will it? Not until something fucks up in a major and MONUMENTAL way that necessitate it, anyway. Isn't that lovely? *Sighs, and mumbles* This whole world is warped and cracked, and I'm one of the sorry few that can see that. Verdammt noch mal .... "

He doesn't have anything else to say about Lucas' recommendation , nor about about the good professor's faith in Kogeki (Even though it doesn't address why they didn't do anything about their missing arm, when they probably had the means and/or awareness to fix it), so the dwarven craftsman gets down to leave them to other matters, but not before saying this parting remark:

"You don't have to trust anything, Rowan. I'll get it done, or die trying to. You've may of damned me and the others by luring us into this godawful mess, but that won't stop me now from seeing it through to the bitter, bitter end."

Then he's gone, off to do everything he was going to do/try to do before Rowan railroaded him into this (in his opinion) utterly and cruelly pointless shakedown (I'll link that post with all that stuff in the Meta Thread ASAP). He's still go stuff to do this evening before he could rest, and by Heatran he'll get it done.
