[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

Hmm? Well, that's a bit surprising, but at the same time....I can sorta understand? Our characters haven't really gotten into the thick of things with the Deoxys clones/DEOXYS Prime itself just yet, and nothing overly threatening/drastic/dramatic/bombastic/etc. has cropped up to pose a significant challenge to change the game state, so I can understand how things are not feeling particularizing amazing or epic. Especially since the group has already been in several EPIC situations in the past, such as 'Fighting' Seikamater, fleeing Mewural, Fighting DMGenesect , and just surviving the Skull Ruins and rescuing Marco in the process. Hard to feel 'wowed' by an event unless it matches or exceeds those past ones, imo.

Ah, I see. Heard MHW was an excellent game if you're of the right mindset for all the prep work and long term payoff, so I can't blame you getting hooked by it and want to have fun with your friends. It's the sorta thing I would do, if I was not swamped with college work IRL and other stuff.

It's also an RP related thing.  I usually keep it simple, but J've needed to think harder than usual about what I want Nathan to say and do in response to the current circumstances.  I want that to at least be decent quality as well, so I'm not about to half ass it unless I absolutely don't have any time nor drive to do more detailed work for such an important event.  Writers' block sucks big time.

Honestly, I'm feeling the challenge already.  It just...wasn't quite what I was expecting because it's so...different.  I really liked the Genesect fight, even if it was stressful.  I loved everything involving Marco and his pokemon.  Mural Mew was...okay I guess.  Seikamater...honestly, wasn't a huge fan.  Legendary stuff so far has been rather hit and miss with me in this campaign.  And the Skull Ruins...I hate to admit it, but I didn't really have a whole lot of fun going through them.  The environments and ideas were definitely cool, but...again, I just can't help but feel like something was missing that whole time to really define the experience as a whole...

Ever since I picked up MH4U on the 3DS, I've all but fallen in love with the series.  It's grindy, but I think it's a fun grind, and I've easily poured hundreds of hours into MH games.  I've been having a ton of fun with MHW since picking it up, and the Iceborne expansion for it was definitely as good a time as any to finally get involved in the most recent entry in the series.  No regrets!
