Karen actually looks a little cross with Lucas when they return from the Alpico encounter.
"Why'd ya have to go and spook that bunny, Lucas? I could have probably persuaded them to stick around!"
Lucas tries to defuse the situation as calmly as he can. "I don't doubt you could have. I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to bolt on us, because we were never going to catch up to it if it decided to run. I didn't bring a pokemon with a Blocking move, so I had to be a little more...direct and use Victoria."
Despite sort of understanding, Karen still doesn't seem to be convinced that was the best course of action in that situation.
"Hmph."
"Hey, you caught it at least, right? I'm sure they'll warm up to you eventually even though we had to faint it."
"...yeah, I guess..."
"They're pretty strong, too. I don't think I've ever seen a pokemon use a Frost Breath quite that strong before. They'll make a great ally, I'm sure."
Karen crosses her arms and does her best to ignore Lucas for now. Lucas sighs and addresses everyone else. "Well, let's keep going. This isn't gonna be an easy hike. We're almost there, though. Just a little longer, and we should be out of this snow and ice for a little while."
Alpico Encounter Summary:
- Alpico was spooked and looked like it was about to run, so Lucas blocked off its escape route with Victoria (Magmortar), prompting it to attack when startled by the powerful Fire type.
- Alpico was KOed and captured by Karen using a Dusk Ball, and has been sent to the PC for now.
- Magneton took 5 damage during the battle.
- Karen used a Potion on Magneton afterwards.
- Karen and Lucas obtained 2 exp each
- Magneton and Victoria obtained 4 exp each.
-------------------------------------------------
Flash forwarding a little (feel free to flash back to the earlier conversation if necessary), the group eventually continues down Route 216. No wild pokemon make themselves apparent for the rest of the Route, and the blizzard only grows in strength the closer the party gets to the entrance of Mt. Coronet. The wooden bridges are beginning to ice over, necessitating careful crossing from everyone, lest they slip and fall onto the lower level of the Route. Strong winds make the trek difficult despite the Route being short, and most of the remaining moonlight is spent reaching the end of the Route.
After crossing the third and final bridge, Randolph feels Amethyst's pokeball tremble, though the Absol doesn't force her way out this time. Eerily, the Spell Tag continues to shudder slightly, too. Randolph, more than anyone, has a feeling that whatever is causing this blizzard is close...the closer they get to the entrance of Mt. Coronet, the more restless the Spell Tag seems to become...
As soon as the party reaches the open area in front of the entrance to Mt Coronet, the blizzard suddenly picks up in intensity, overriding the effects of the combined Droughts entirely. It's difficult to see in the blinding snowstorm, as well as difficult to hear anyone else over the sound of the raging blizzard, but everyone has a feeling that something is coming...

Karen's Alert: (6)(4)(1)(1)(6)(1)(4) 3 successes
Randolph's Alert (+1 Spell Tag): (6)(4)(2)(1)(6)(2)(1)(1)(6*) 3 successes
Lucas's Alert: (5)(5)(1)(1)(6)(3)(3)(5)(2)(1) 3 successes
One moment, everyone sees nothing but white snow. The next, the blizzard suddenly clears, it resumes hailing, and the ground begins to tremble!
Amethyst pops out of her pokeball and tackles Randolph, knocking him to the ground as a tall pillar of ice suddenly shoots out of the ground where he was standing!
Lucas yells, "Everyone scatter!"
As everyone dives for safety, more pillars of ice erupt from the ground, forming walls! What was once an empty snowfield that greeted those leaving Mt. Coronet is now a prison, unscaleable walls of sheer ice crisscrossing it and dividing it into many different 'rooms'.
Everyone finds that they're alone in their 'room', completely cut off from the rest of the group. Karen shouts from somewhere the rest of the party can't see, "Is everyone okay?"
"I'm fine!" responds Lucas from beyond another one of the walls. "Banged my knee on a rock, but I'm no worse for wear for now. Looks like whatever did this forgot to make a ceiling, so maybe we can..."
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! G-g-ghosts!!!!"
"What the...!"
Karen's scream and the sound of pokeballs summoning pokemon heralds the arrival of two pokemon that appear in every room. Ice crystals adorn their heads like jewelry, what looks like a large bow is tied around their waists, and their long arms have the appearance of having oversized, elegant sleeves. They float just above the ground, ice blue eyes glowing menacingly in the dark night...though those that look at their eyes more closely can see that they're not as bright as those of Candice's Froslass, and that their glow is darker, more sinister...
It's impossible to mistake them for anything but a Froslass, the moonlight reflecting off of both their ice crystals and the 4 walls of each 'room'. And the Ghosts don't look like they're here to Play Nice.
A Chilling Ambush: Coral Highlands Large Monster Theme - Monster Hunter World
Every encounter is mandatory, has a Cap of 1, and consists of 2 Froslass. Lucas and Karen will pick the remaining 2 encounters that are not chosen by the players. Every encounter counts as a separate battlefield from the rest due to the Froslass' icy prisons. The current weather is Hail. There's only enough room to summon 2 pokemon if they both have 5 base HP or less.
1. Next to a cave
Note: There's a cave in the side of one of the cliffs, and the Froslass are between it and whoever takes this encounter.
2. By the large tree
Note: There's a singular tree near the entrance of Mt. Coronet. Maybe it could be useful for something?
3. Next to the entrance of Mt. Coronet
Note: Someone was lucky enough to end up next to the Coronet Caves! ....except the entrance has been completely frozen over as well. Rats!
4. An 'open' snowfield
Note: Nothing of note here except a whole 'lotta snow. And two aggressive looking Froslass, of course.
5. Trapped in a corner
Note: The two Froslass are closing in on whoever is unlucky enough to be next to where two of the cliffsides meet. There's nowhere to run. (No mechanical penalties or disadvantages, but it might be fun to roleplay!)
