Kee's hestitant to simply use a Pokemon's attack to break the block of ice/unfreeze whatever's trapped in there, it could be 1. a threat and 2. be killed by that act. So the first thing he does while waiting for the others and ask for their intel is summon Octavia and ask her to place the tip of one of her ribbons on the red thing in particular: "Sooooo, my dear one, do tell: Can you 'feel' anything from 'this', is it alive or more like a dead and inanimate object?" How big is that red thing inside also (roughly, small enough to fit into a hand or human-size?)

Octavia can't directly touch the red thing since it's completely frozen solid, but she is able to sense something through the ice, however barely.   She tugs on Kee's arm urgently with her ribbon.  Whatever's in there, it's alive!

It looks like the red thing is a little taller than an average human.
