I have one more addition to add to Randolph's warnings: Fire type moves have a tendency to heat up coal veins.  Heated coal veins are dangerous to touch, as coal gets hot very quickly and stays hot for a long time.
In addition, methane in caol veins is potentially combustible.  Fire type moves should be used with extreme caution.

Well that means that Kee has to ask his smol and dear Vulpix to take a break in a PC Box of his as well, but naturally he'll introduce her to this beforehand by summoning her and explaining the process: "Basically, ya'll be turned into data and tranported to my account on the PC System for Pokemon storation - as scary as that may sound to ya, it doesn't hurt, yar will and self-awareness remains and ya're free to do what ya like, imagine it as bein' in a virtual reality, 'k? Ran has the polar opposite decision to the eccentric dandy's own, keeping his hands down and arms crossed as he shook his head lightly.

"After that crystalline snake nearly burried 'n flattened us, I want to track it down and deal with it 'fore it can possibly get any ideas of coming back to give us an Encore of perilous grief. *Shakes head* I don't blame you or anyone else not wanting to tackle a odd Steelix in a place like this, so I'm fine taking going after and taking care of it myself if need be. *Shrugs* 'Sides, I've experience wearing down Steelix before, so I'm confidant I can handle this one if it dares cross my path...."

Their question earns them a look from the scuffy smith, before he thought about it for a few seconds and answered.

"Stay away from the walls much as you can, avoid using Moves that can cause massive collateral damage or have a high chance of causing structural failure (IE: AoE Moves, Ground Type and some Rock Type Moves, REALLY powerful Moves, that sort of thing), and if the stone around ya starts shaking, vibrating, or flaking off, trouble is about to find ya, so you better get 'fore it gets you. If you here Beethoven start raising hell throughout the mines, that means something seriously wrong has or is about to happen, so prepare yourself for the worst. Finally, avoid messing with the walls or floor of the mines too much, as that's a prime opportunity to have them fail ya disastrously. Got all that?"

Kee's not quite sure whether he's better off being impressed or facepalming by Ran's confidence and valor in going to PURSUE that odd Steelix, but what he knows for sure is that he better not question or reason him, after all HE's the one with the experience in mines and mining. And so Kee just opts to say nothing, but the LOOK he gives Ran speaks volumes: It's one that seems to clearly ask whether he knows what he's doing and that he (Kee) hopes and wishes that he (Ran) does not end up digging his own grave.
