A detail that you may want to keep in mind for our current situation is that we're underwater. It'll probably be significantly easier to use pokemon that are strong swimmers.
Lancelot might be fine since he's a floating sword and shield, though the underwater mechanics listed in the book might make it harder for physical moves to be used since they aren't used to battling there.
Typhon would actually be a stellar choice underwater, as the Tynamo line is pretty well adapted to living in such conditions due to being very eel-like and have been shown to live in larger bodies of water in some instances.
Most Water types would work well underwater too.
