How sure are you you're both up-to-date? You'd be surprised at how many people who thought they were up-to-date but weren't really...

I went to use the Patcher every time before I started playing and my friend said he used the Patcher to the point it made the game hang and he had to restart a new game. We both went to check the Patcher while we were online and both our Patchers said that there were no new updates.

I haven't seen an error message like that since I was using the last JV-and-Twitch update.  Undecided

Check your version in-game (before you start your save file) and make sure it's up-to-date there.  It should be 1.0.4 if it is.

If it's not and you're still running 1.0.1, then you'll need the updated neoncube.ini file to connect to the new servers and update from there (because your current Patcher won't be finding any new updates off the old server).
