Vaporeon does some exploration of the chasm. Water is usually rushing down it - but every now and then, a huge bubble of natural gas comes up through the chasm, causing a firework of "exploding" seawater. Some of these can be very violent, bringing up ancient silt and materials. There are also a lot of nutrients in such a place, leading to a relatively big population of invasive Lavent.

Ohhh that sounds interesting, curious, fascinating, and like a fine distraction to not dwell in self-loathe. "Well done, my dear!~", Shiva greets her waterly Eeveelution upon they come back to report on the chasm. "Now, let's do a bit of further exploring together, shall we? We can use your new DIVE skill, yes! ♡(^v^ )"

Huh, Lavent. Shiva has never seen these Pokemon before until checking for them in her Almanac, she finds them somewhat scary... Interesting and unique, yet they somehow creep her out personally.

Can Shiva and Vaporeon wait for such a gas bubble to cause a firework of exploding sea water to obtain a bit of the ancient silt and 'materials' they bring up? Sounds semi-dangerous to do so, but she 1. got the Ancient Shield to protect herself and Vappy from being hurt by that explosion (aka, protecting from additional effects) and she doesn't leave out an opportunity like this to collect stuff for crafting or just keeping.

Yeah, that's perfectly fine! You would obtain some fine sand of unusual colors and textures, as well as tiny pieces of unidentifiable fossils. Most of these would be too small to revive, but if you wanted you could collect enough to get one fossil chosen totally at random at the time of revivification.

You also get some what I'll call "scent crystals." They are little pieces of mineral that are infused with gases and old organic matter - most smell unpleasantly of sulfur, but some are benzene gases which can smell in a variety of pleasant ways. Some might smell like oil, seaweed, or carry the scent of the ocean even on land. You could build candles, scented jewelry, bath bombs, scent bombs, stink bombs, Spritzee evo items, that kind of thing.

Nah, a bunch of tiny pieces of unidentifiable fossils is fine. If Shiva grinds it further, she'll have fossil sand! Goes nicely with the other sand of unusual colour and texture. Like, she has never seen such fine and beautiful indigo and pink sand before.

Ohhh, scent crystals! These sound like a very fitting find for a chara like her <3 Uh, but since they're benzene gases - are they safe to handle and keep at all? Since benzene is actually toxic/not very healthy. If they are safe though, she happily packs away all those that smell pleasantly ("Aww, look at this Vappy, this piece smells like the ocean, so fresh and clean!") and throws the sulfur-ones back into the chasm.
