Piracy is a problem of service and simply not being able to afford games at their exoberant prices now in days. If you don't got good service, then you're going to get piracy.

If pricing was the main issue, then surely Nintendo would have been having more problems with their profit margins for all these $60 games because the games wouldn't be selling as well as they have, no? 

I think the main problem here is that Yuzu was visibly prominent in the Switch emulation space, which is already a bit of a red flag since it's the current gen console.  Slap on a patreon with (apparently) paywalled access to emulatable content, and that's a bit of a recipe for getting targeted by the legal ninjas!  Sounds a lot like what happened to Uranium when 1.0 released around the time Sun and Moon did.
