Though when Sylvia speaks (probably to berate him, which he admittedly probably deserves), he will do a double take briefly. Hang on, she talks now? And she's still five times her size?? Is he sure he's not still Confused??? Maybe he should double check with Rabsca...
Speaking of precautions though, Seddi needs to prepare to analyze Akamu's new critters. "Right then. Back to business so we can all be on our way sooner rather than than later. Put the critters' Pokeballs on the table, Akamu. Gonna scan them with my phone real quick so we can get some basic info to start with. It's no lab facility, but it's what I have to work with until the Professor gets her lab up and runnin'."
He'll also summon Rabsca to set up Safeguard (one status fueled set of shenanigans is enough for tonight, thank you very much!); Reflect; and Light Screen, and Goodra just in case either pokemon breaks out and decides to start doing a little roughhousing. Maybe Rabsca can use his Synchronize to help Seddi avoid any further crazy Insight based blunders too...
Rabsca would later confirm that, indeed, Sylvia could now Speak Common, and was now Giant Sized. Though it didn't seem permeant - very slowly, she was decreasing back to her normal (though still big) form.
All precautions were taken care of without a problem, but the moment you Summoned Goodra (who immediately began fretting over you) the [D a r k] Ultra Ball JUMPED up on the table before furiously jostling about, as if its occupant was trying so hard but failing equally to escape. Wow nelly, what a reaction! It also tried to roll closer to Sylvia for a moment, then paused, seemingingly thinking, before rolling over to where Seddi and his squishy draco were standing by....
Your life giving beetle would have much the same reaction as the purple feline-fox - panic, uncertainty, and instant revulsion towards the [D a r k] Entity within the Ultra Ball, but it quickly got themselves under control thanks to your training and experiences in dealing with similar beings of power. Goodra, however, seemed....confused for a moment, tilting their head this way and that at the Ultra Ball before giving Seddi a most curious look - one that looked cannily similar to a certain old sparring partner of yours when you do something to ignite their interest.
With preparations done, let's see Odd 'Mon' Seddi decides to Research first!
*Coin Flip* It's the non spooky one! Which is ironically, considering it was holding a Ghost/Fighting Type 'Wobbuffet' , or at least that is how it looked on the data screen if you squint. Waving over your phone and initiating the Research Application, you wait for a few minutes as it pulled the biometric and energy reading data, processed it, and spat out a dense document that was ROUGH around the edges and had more jargon than the military. Think crossing JAVA code and doctoral research papers together, and then have the result made by a AI that, while sophisticated, cares little of making it easily digestible. That's your job, buddy - interpreting the data and drawing conclusions thereof!
Here we go....
Research Check: Weird Wobbuffet Data Dump!
INS (3) + Knowledge (2) +S.T. (2 - the only viable Specialty that could Assist) - 4 (I'm not THAT sort of Researcher) + 2 (I've Studied Stranger) + 0 Successes (INS Malus + Hands on Experience with Strange Mons) =5D6 Dice
(3)(4)(4)(5)(5) 4 Successes!
It takes you a long time, but you're able to not only verify the Info Screen data the Ball generated for Akamu (AKA The Stat Block), but common to a few conclusions that had your and Sylvia's eyebrows raised:
1) This 'Mon' didn't belong to ANY known Egg Group - heck, it didn't share ANY genetic data with the known extent of Pokemon!
2) Its Type Energy/Special Power/Fundamental Essene was unlike anything you ever seen before. The closest thing you could compare it to were Paradoxes, Chimeric Mons (Think Clones and Mutants), and Ultra Beasts, the boogyMons of out the world
3) The Ultra Ball was not the greatest fit for holding this creature - due to its 'Ghostly' nature, however, it seemed to be able to to tolerate and adapt to its tech
4) It's 'Unburden' Ability worked differently that what is typically expressed - normal Unburden didn't effectively remove Paralysis or grant a Free Action.
From all you could gather in this brief time and with your limited Knowledge and expertise.....
That 'Wobbuffet' was not, in fact, a Wobbuffet, nor ANY kind of Pokemon. It was a creature akin to them - enough where it could be Caught - but otherwise fell out of the entire 'family' .
What the.....?
More analysis is needed - on better equipment, by more researchers, in depth testing... - but for now you set that aside and move onto the real star of the show: The [D a r k] Ultra Ball.
When you tried to scan it, however, the phone's screen glitched out for a moment, as if unable to handle [ w h a t ] was in there. Sylvia and Rabsca could feel the Entity's surprise - [W H A T T H I S? T I C K L E F E E L F U N N Y , L I K E S H I N Y L I G H T ] - while Goodra started vibrating in place as they stared intensely at the Ball.
Eventually, though, the phone WAS able to process the data on whatever was in it - but a bright red *!!!* symbol appeared on your screen. Seconds later your phone started ringing and automatically accepting it - it was a Video Call from none other that Dr. Sada herself! Who, despite her unique constitution, looked rather tired and irritable - dealing with the government and setting things up must wear even her out.
".....Seddi, why have I received a report about you recording data on a Legendary Class Pokemon? *Frowns* A rather.....weak and odd one, based on what little I've gleaned so far, but....a Legendary Dragon never the less *Grumbles, rubbing forehead* You are Fortunate I've routed all reporting alerts and flags to me and have exclusive and propriety access to your research data and reports, or otherwise the local government and who know what else would be hunting you down for answers fast. So please enlighten me so I can prune this Budew problem Swiftly before it throws any Clinks into our plans."
Busted?
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
