When you look back to the Strange Meowth that gave you this Wonderful Ball, you find that it has vanished; not a trace remains.
You have a Choice: leave this place with the Cherish Ball you've Obtained, or enter the Shrine; the same as I said to Spiritmon also applies to Akamu.
After bowing at where the Meowth used to be he'd make his way towards the shrine, offering a quick prayer. Hearing that Oz was going inside earlier he'd at least check on her before thinking of leaving. This place has been really friendly so far but he shouldn't let his guard down entirely.
