Without revealing her backstory though, based in what you send me in the message, since, well, even if Oz still a Scimitar by culture, in more technical terms she is more akin to a heretic based in what Windos said. She telling her secret to Seddi was a little more easier since he is not bound by any Scimitar code, but Mr Samsara? She fear what Bernard would do her and her sisters, specially with the knowledge they both belong to the same group. No wonder Fortuna was so adamant in not give him any of her wings or...trust Mr Samsara at all.(...)

...If you want my honest advice in this case, please DON'T EVER bring your backstory/status as ex-Scimitar up to Bernhard. Like, NEVER. If there is one thing he despises and has no mercy for, then it is heretics (which Oz would be in his view, I'm so sorry to say this so blatantly). Even MORE so since he is part of The Scimitar Council, and said Council has its very own fraction that deals with anyone deemed 'heretical'. I'm so sorry for having to say this, but it's definitely better for Oz's safety to keep quiet towards him.

Technically Oz would first be considered an Apostate by Scimitar society, since she more or less voluntarily left it and renounced her own Status/Citizenship as a Scimitar by changing her ID after faking her death. Apostates are looked down upon generally by Scims for obvious reasons (giving up The Life and idealolgy never goes well), but they're not overly pressured by most. Just banished or otherwise shunned if they get permission to keep holdings/their citizenship.

To be a Heretic you got to be formally declared by one OR break a law or taboo so great that only recourse is Heresy. Such a 'status' is usually followed by Exile at best , Death at moderate, and who knows what if a Heretic deserves a more creative Fate...

Bernhard CAN judge a Scimitar for their crimes and dish out appropriate judgement, though usually that also entails saving the 'trail' via video/Spell by a third party and sending it for review later to make sure you're on the up and up. That or have a 3rd Party Scim serve as overseeing and witness for later questioning, if necessary.

Bernhard CAN'T, however, judge and punish former Scimitars , plain and/or non-afffliated Magi by Scimitar Law , and non-Mageocracy Citzens for Herecy. He can via regular law, as is the right of any Trainer if they are acting in a judicial fashion, and the Settlers give a lot of leeway for Scims to 'do what they think is best' law wise, but if you're not part of The Scims or their nation then you can't be tried or punished as a Heretic.

Oz' case is....unique, since her abandoning an overt mission and running away from the responsibilities thereof is grounds for severe reprimands by Scimitar law. The fact she picked up her own brand of Witchcraft and becoming SUPER Radical wouldn't help matters either, and probably be the tipping point for Herecy to be called for. However, she formally abandoned her ID and Life as a Scimitar, and the details of said mission are....contenous for reasons unexplored as of yet. That, and the brand of Necromancy and Spiritualism she unwittingly performed/performs might be of enough Interest to spare her Heresy accusations if she consented to sharing her 'research' and secrets - Scimitars are nothing else but pragmatic and very willing to compromise if it gets them juicy Magic or what they are 'entitled' too.

So by my count Bern would probably have reason to be somewhat hostile to Oz and want to see them tried in SOME manner for what they did, they couldn't do anything too extreme without kicking the matter higher up the chain (Mageocracy and Settler) to determine if they can be tried for Heresy or if they are truly an Apostate and therefore tried in another, less punitively Scimitar fashion.

===

I'd note this down, dear, since it's a fairly good point about what Legal Rights a Scimitar has and what you can do to execute Scimitar Law or declare Herecy on others. Also, sorry about not posting yet, but today and yesterday were distracting  due to having to housesit a bunch of dogs. Oh what a joy...
