Documenting my process of learning digital drawing

... It's been nearly a year since I've posted anything here. Geez.

And kinda just been feeling like wanting to update this cozy little thread of mine in this comfy lil' forum. For my own sake.


Coming straight to the point, I haven't really created anything art-wise in a while. Too exhausted (it doesn't help that I'm currently facing insomniac issues), too busy organizing and sorting stuff (when I really have the organization skills of a carrot [aka very little]), holidays where I spent most of my time at my parent's place (which is fine, if it weren't mentally draining more often then not), lots to do at my job (which also drains my mental energy quickly, try being a quiet introvert in a group of people who love to talk and laugh a lot) and I've been a bit fixated on following the news of 3I/ATLAS for the past month or so (it's not just a regular comet like NASA tells, change my mind) 

I'm yearning to craft and create again however, creative juices are still there and overflowing. 


A WIP of a casual drawing of Mega-Raichu X is lying around on my desktop since...end of November I guess, lined and waiting for the next step of varying the width of the lineart - a step which usually takes me the longest by far, but which I also kinda enjoy because it adds so much to the final drawing as a whole aaand I can fixate on small parts of the drawing and focus on details none but me will ever see. Also trying out a new brush for the general lineart (please ignore that I either lost or accidently deleted my old one and can't find it again in the Clip Studio Assets) with sorta texture, very crisp and nice as far as I can tell. Smaller full sketch, randomly scribbled one evening because I just really like the look of Mega Raichu X (Raichu has always been my comfort Pokemon, lowkey happy that it even got two Megas <3 )




Next: Sketchdump of some OCs of mine that I've meticulously dug up, because I kinda want to focus more on creating art of them than doing lots of fanart. I admit that I tend to neglect those besides scribbles and sketches in a mood and in a whim - despite them being very dear to me, despite them being sorta old, despiteI think about them a lot.

1. My adoptive son Riley, whose design I bought from Chotpot @bluesky in...November 2024. Means a lot to me. Very gay, very cringe, very free. I imagine drawing xem is a lot of fun because lots of details and a nice contrast because black/grey and rainbow.

2. Sort of a sona, a male calico cat (also an angel and a ghost) who tries to be positive purely out of spite/despite the world and humanity being fucked. Undated, but I GUESS he dates back to 2020?? What I definitely remember is his name: 'Mika'.

3. Smol creature, inspired by the rawring twenties. Also a bought design by Mogz @bluesky at some early point, I think it was when I was still active on deviantART. Undated and unnamed besides the nickname 'SI_CKK' but at least dates back to 2014, if not much older.

4. Also undated but wayyy older than the previous attachment since it is definitely from when I was still a total newbie to digital art (possible that THIS was also among the first full-blown illustrations I made digitally), local candygore cat. I have a thing for cats and drawing cats, okay. They're lovely, sweet and fun <3 Original file lost to time, all that remains is the pencil sketch in one of my sketchbooks and this drawing as a printed version hanging beside my bed.

5. Closed species I created when I was in my late teenage years, dragoncats (very creative, I know). Basically a mixture of western dragons and housecats that live freely but can be tamed to be very unique pets. This rainbow-y one was the mascot of this species because I remember it having been the first I made up while watching a 2h-long NewYear's special on YouTube. Comes in all sort of colors, patterns and fur lengths.
