Some kind of "Post-Uranium RP" - Now finished and open for questions!
#67
(Oh my, you and your text walls ~☆ )
(WARNING – Possible depression trigger. Do forgive me, please...)

„Come on, Lucille...“, a low and sinister voice dawned from deep inside her, only audible for her and her mind. „You know he's right.“
No... „Somewhere deep, safely locked away in a dark dusty corner of your subconscious mind, you already know that you will outlive your family due to radiation they caught up, just as he says.“
No... „And there's nothing you can do about that, regardless of how many iodine pills you bring up.“
NO!

She did not even realise that the last word was spoken aloud, and now dwelled in the room like a spirit. But the truth was like mentioned, it could not be denied. Lucille knew it in some way, but prefered to hide that far far away. She knew she will not survive long after witnessing the funeral of her husband and her son. She knew that shortly after that she will either die naturally in an ambulance on a broken heart, or, if she wasn't lucky enough to perish that way, by her own hands. She knew that she was capable of doing it, if she only really wanted. None will probably miss her. Barely anyone would notice at all. It would be just another mystery about her person, just like what has happened in Epsilon...

But if she'll make it to heaven, she'll be reunited with them. Eventually. Happyly. That was for sure, and gave her the motivation. Until then, she promised herself to enjoy the remanining time with her family, as sentimental and foolish as it may be, and let them have a little of the time they missed, regardless of what may follow anyday.

…...........

But just now, here in this room, Sans' words were like a potent toxic to her. Every single one. Leaving burns, paralysis and trauma on her.
Why did he have act it out in such detail?
Why did he put her through so much emotional pain?
Didn't he understand that it all had to be this way, regardless how much she did not wanted to engage in such a shady business?

… Yes, it was necessary. Tandor was in need of another, safer energy source. Nuclear Energy was fine for a while, since it did not cause as much CO2-emission like coal-fired power plants and the land was rich in uranium ore anyway, but there was... the problem of atomic waste. Where to store it safely. It began to pile up everwhere. Depositing it at Zeta itself (Honestly, did you ever notice all the barrels there?) could not be done for any longer. The final depot underneath Zeta was limited in storage and by far not as safe as assumed. All hope was laid into the hands of competent scientists. Lucille herself, in all the despair, saw no other possibility than to agree in Larkspurr's project. Even it wasn't much of her taste... Well, and what followed then was the creation of Urayne, or rather „Project 092“, which would in theory provide an unlimited amount of energy while leaking barely any radiation and – most important – be controllable and incapable of independent thought thanks to the Interface. In theory. Who could have known that it all ended in, put nicely, a total mess and dangerous chaos... that was not her anymore in the Interface.

…......

Enough flashback and mourning for now, however... back to the current situation. That one was just as unpleasent as going on with regreting what as happened, though.

Words were barely capable to describe the horror that flooded our captured female scientist as the monitors came to life. She did not even care to mask it in any way. She would not even be able to mask it properly... it was plain cruel. Letting her decide between her dear pet, or a safe live without it. How can this be... WHY does that have to be... Please, why does she have to make such a decision... again...

Slowly, very very slowly, she begain to cry. Without making a sound. Her tears, bitter and painful, just ran down her face to moisten the collar of her attire. She could not hold it anymore, it was enough, it was all over. It all will end here at this place. It would all find a bitter end just now, regardless of what decision she will come up with...

It was a horrible, pathetic, heartbreaking and maybe even despicable view. It was like everything came together just now, in the final place...

….........

Then, many many hours later it felt like (time seems to be messed up, as well...), a single sound could be heard. It was one word, spoken very low, bitter, and plaqued with salty tears, breaking the silence once again...

„….. okay.“

Shortly after more words followed, rather said to oneself than to Sans...

„Please, Nucleon... forgive me. I'm so sorry... … … “

Only to be followed by a few more words, addressed directly to Sans, louder and with a begging undertone...

„PLEASE LET ME SEE IT!“
