Running a game store is like having game night at your place every night! (Except you don't get to have any fun, but still have to clean up afterwards)
It's really just like any other business owner. Invest in stock for the shelves, sell said inventory for profit so you can turn around and do it again while paying yourself, your staff, the rent, the facilities company etc. Just that said stock happens to be games. I will openly admit to playing a lot less games now that I've crossed over to the other side of the till, but enjoyment comes with the sense of satisfaction of a job well done when you see a room full of smiling faces.
So yeah, it's hard, but only in the same way running a small business is hard.
