If you are willing to do your research and sniff out a copy of the game that is unpatched, and plan ahead of all the really nasty bugs, you can still exploit the bug yourself. I just consider it far too much work, personally, for such a relatively small benefit. Perhaps Andro and Reeves can implement an Item that does the same thing? I mean, only if you go for 100% completion, but if you are actively breeding for shinies, then you might as well go all the way and catch them all.
