Pokerole is a tabletop RPG type thing, like DnD.  It also happens to be one of the better and/or simpler ones I've seen recently.

I don't know too much about DnD (just visited their site).
But regardless, I downloaded the book (in adobe reader)... what now?

A very, very brief explanation: The basis of a tabletop RPG is all in the provided rulebooks.  Gotta read through it and apply the appropriate rules depending on if you're a player or the Dungeon/Game Master (or DM/GM for short).  The DM/GM is the one who runs the show, deciding what happens based on what you roll and what the story you'll be experiencing is.
