[Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows
(03-12-2023, 09:30 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: (My deepest apologies for the delay! I've been rather busy lately, but now I got the time to make a post! Hopefully it'll have been worth the wait....)

Platina almost boggled as the majestic looking Ninetales corrected her mistaken assumption. This entire Mystery Dungeon was under the Domain of the Dragon God Kyurem?  She knew the Pokemon Gods laid claim to all sorts of things and vast swaths of territory for their own Purposes, but she didn't expect one to want an area like this. Yet another revelation that take her somewhat off guard - hopefully one day she'll be able to weather such and more with a bit more grace and decorum.

By the time she managed to center herself Keldeo had already finished his reply, and thus decided that a little more haste and clarification on her part was due to ensure this conversation continued smoothly.

"To clarify, our group is currently on a quest to find this Raichu after I received a Dream Revelation from Dragon God Kyurem. They showed me they meet or were meeting with Raichu in his Domain, so my and their own Teams came together to both investigate and meet with Them in the process, as they ordained. We know the dangers and perils of this place, but we have no choice but to brave them if we wish to see our goals through to the end. *Bows* In light of all this, I humbly request you lead us to your Master, Madame Twintales. Or, at the very least, grace us with some guidance, so that we can make that journey by ourselves much more smoothly. The sooner we can meet with Them, the better for all of us, or so I can hope."

Upon being informed about the messages, the shiny bird goes.....stiff for a brief moment, her pupil shrinking ever so slightly, before she slowly nodded to the mix'n'match crittercoon.

"Duly noted. Let us continue our quest post haste then and pray that this....Pokemon doesn't harry us along the way."

(As a reminder for @PhantomUnderYourDesk, each team got a single Connection Orb to use to stay in contact with the other teams)

The icy fox seems to take great interest in Platina's statement.  "A vision from Master Kyurem, you say?  That is...unusual.  It has been many moons since Master Kyurem has requested that they meet with another pokemon.  And here of all places..."

She stops and thinks for a moment.  "Very well.  Come with me.  If it is as you say, then you must reach your destination with all haste."

She gives Platina an icy glare next.  "But know this.  If I find that you are lying about your reasons for being here, then there will be immediate repercussions."

She then turns and continues along the path to the left of where the party entered the room.  "Come along now.  The exit is this way, along with the treasure that I have collected from the immediate area to safeguard."

Glacial Approach

Madame Twintales guides the party down the path, which leads behind the ice wall that Team OS encountered earlier.  Further down the path, they reach the huge pile of money and a Kangaskhan Statue.

"You may take 5000 poké from the pile.  I am not so unkind as to not offer something to adventurers who need funds for supplies."

Past the statue, the group can see a huge cavern.  It's almost like...

"Yup, we're definitely inside the Great Glacier now.  And if you look real carefully, you'll see..."

"What's left of the Glacier Palace.  Even in ruins, it's still a breathtaking sight..."

Glacial Ruins: Glacier Palace Reaches - PMD: Gates to Infinity

Almost blending in to the walls of the Great Glacier's interior is a castle made entirely of ice.  However, it's clearly in disrepair.  Many of its spires have either collapsed or their tips have been broken off.  Cracks run along the frozen walls, threatening to collapse the entire structure.

"Kyurem should be in there, in the deepest reaches of the palace."

"You are strangely confident about that."

"What do you mean?  Everything we've heard so far suggests they should be."

Madame Twintales shakes her head, seemingly confused.  "It has been many moons since I saw Master Kyurem last.  I cannot fathom why they would have returned here when they should still be meditating at the Altar of Ice."

Her words are suddenly interrupted by a flurry of snow brought on by a sudden, freezing wind.

It doesn't stop either.

"...strange.  We should be protected from the elements here.  Why is there...?"

Kee and Kogeki both hear that familiar voice in their heads again as Hoopa nags them.  Hey, there's a really strong pokemon in the area, right?  You should let me out of my bottle so I can help you fight it when you go into that castle!  Seriously, you won't regret it!  C'mon, please?  I've been stuck in this bottle for so long...

"Brrrrrrrr!  Where'd this snowstorm come from?"

"Well, at least it isn't hail.  And it started while we're in a rest area too, so we can prepare accordingly.  We'll move when you're ready, Omega Seekers."

Platina reeled back somewhat at the graceful fox's warning, surprised, but when she fully comprehended it's meaning her expression turned reproachful and highly offended.

"One does not make falsehoods in matters of the Gods, least they be struck down for their impudence and blasphemy. I'll forgive you once for your assumption, as you do not know me and my claim does warrant scrutiny. Make another uncharitable one against my character and we'll find ourselves at odds, Ninetales."

She favored them with a Steely, imperious Look that conveyed exactly how she felt. Due caution and skepticism is one thing, but to impinge her character like they did? They're lucky she was raised properly to handle such baseless claims, and that the situation itself forbids needless conflict.

The shiny bird was left in a somewhat disgruntled mood after that conversation, with not even the offer of Poke by Ninetales doing much to smooth over her ruffled feathers. As for the matter of how to divide up the sum they've been offered, she expresses complete apathy in the matter, letting the other decide how much she receives, if any. Right now she was not interested in profiteering or earning her worth, but getting to the bottom of their Dragon God given Quest and resolving the matter of the Raichu ASAP. If she truly needed anything later for purchase she'd just make a request to use the group's funds.

The sight of the Icy Castle manages to bring an awed look from the ironclad avian, though it's....less than ideal state does manage a few winces as she notes each imperfection. Still, despite it's disrepair it was a most impressive Domain of the Dragon God Kyurem - if only she could've seen it in its glory days.

Ninetales comments would've earnt a remark about where this 'Alter of Ice' was, but the onset of blistering gelid winds cause her to shut her beak with a audible and metallic *Clack!* as her she begins shivering harder than ever. Oh blast this accursed weather and whatever conjured it in a supposedly 'safe' respite!

At Keldo's remark Platina managed to give him a shaky nod, looking more displeased than ever.

"Indeed, though I rather you didn't tempt Fate with such comments. In any case, I'm ready to continue when everyone else is. Beyond trying to Harden myself for whatever lay ahead there is not much I can do in the way of 'prepping' , unless anyone has any ideas of what else I can do."
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

(Ah. In that case Kee will definitely inform the other of the Message received before they follow Madam Twintales - doesn't need to be roleplay'd out)

(I'll also save myself reactions from Kee on things due to, uh...a lack of time and uninspiration, and because there's not really anything he has or wants to add.)

Ohhhh, in that case Ziggy Kee is more than happy to take these 5k!~ Siny and precious coins, and that many even!!1!!1 He utters a repectful bow and smile of gratitue towards the icy foxlady: "Your offer's greatly 'ppreciated and accepted, benelovent lady! Rest 'ssured that us adventurers will invest it in nothin'else but supplies of usefulness an' value to aid us further on our path ahead. Ya have my thanks."

(Shall we just put these 5k into the group funds, @Spiritmon and @Lord Windos? We already have 5,417$p there if my notes are correct; and since Platina herself is uninterested, stocking up the group funds so that everyone of us can make use of it sounds the most fair to me.)

Could have known that a very certain djinnmon would attract attention onto itself in this situation. Likewise via his thoughts, Kee firmly responds with a "NOPE. Ya stay where y'are - for now. There IS a really strong 'Mon in the area, on that ya're right, BUT for now it doesn't look like we'll engange in a battle 'gaint 'em. Shall I turn out wrong and we'll need yar aid in a fight, then I'll let ya out of tha bottle."

Kee shivers and shakes some snow from his fur, agreeing on Keldeo that it at leat isn't nasty hail. "Gimme a moment pls, got some iteam stuff to wrap up first b'fore I'm down t'move on." With that Kee aproaches the Kangaskhan Statue and switches his held Tight Belt for one Aspear Berry from his stock, stores the Cubchoo fur he picked up earlier and withdraws one more Aspear Berry. Just in case.

He resports back to the others afterwards. "Ready t'keep going then! ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ Lead tha wae, mylady!~"

Team Omega Seekers and their allies head inside the Glacial Ruins, the sudden snowstorm an ominous sign.  This is not the dreadful, smothering wind that would be threatening to blow them out of the mystery dungeon though.  It is a freezing cold, bleak feeling storm.  And as the group wanders through the icy halls of the ruined Glacier Palace, they encounter no wild pokemon.  The growing feeling of isolation is something that Madame Twintales cannot help but remark on.

"There are supposed to be wild pokemon like Piloswine and Pawniard here.  The fact that we have not encountered any by now is...disturbing.  Something is amiss."

The Ninetales looks warily around every corner before ushering the party through the dungeon with renewed urgency.

During the exploration, Team OS finds another Aspear Berry, a Quick Orb, and two Reviver Seeds (they can be distributed as necessary before the next part of this scene).

Eventually, the group of pokemon finally reached the center of the Glacial Ruins.  A large, spacious chamber of ice makes a stark contrast for all the tight corridors they were wandering through before.  The sudden snowstorm that had been hounding them throughout the corridors seems to stop as soon as everyone reaches the innermost chamber, which seems to be empty apart from a huge set of doors on one side of the room made from incredibly thick ice.  As everyone is looking around the room, Keldeo suddenly exclaims that he's found something.  "Look!  A frism!  And I think somebody left a message on it!"

Emolga briefly explains to Team OS's members what a frism is.  "It's basically an object that can remember things that are spoken to it, and then repeat them later.  They're pretty popular in Post Town as an alternative to written letters, but they're rather rare nowadays since you can only find them here.  If this one has a message on it though..."

Keldeo seems eager to check what's on the frism, as he doesn't hesitate to activate it to play the message that had been recorded.  The voice that comes out of it is not one that Team OS recognizes.

A Message Frozen in Time: Icy Sanctum - PMD: Gates to Infinity

Is this thing working?  Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3...okay, good, this is a fresh one.

You might be wondering who I am, but that's not important right now.  What is important is that I'm the only human on this planet that still has their memories of their life as a human.  And because of that, I can tell something is wrong.  And I might be the only one with enough knowledge to figure out how to fix whatever is happening.

"Sue!  It's Sue!  But why'd she leave a frism here?"

"Shhh, she's not done yet."

I've noticed the sky has been darkening lately, as if a large scale blizzard is coming.  And I've also noticed the Rainbows of Hope have started fading again.  The last time they disappeared, the Bittercold was formed out of all the mistrust in the world, nearly triggering a bitter ice age that would have wiped out all life.  I was the only one that could stop it, as not even the clairvoyant Kyurem could get anywhere near it.  No pokemon could on their own.  But stop it I did, with the hope and faith of all of my new pokemon friends, and the Rainbows of Hope returned.

If you've found this message, it means I've gone looking for Kyurem and not returned to Paradise.  The recent events have been reminding me of what happened when the Bittercold was gathering power.  I can't let something happen like that again, and I'm going to need Kyurem's help to figure out how to stop it.  Kyurem isn't here in the Glacial Ruins though, so I will have to look elsewhere for him.  I've heard rumors that he has been spotted on an island far to the south, near a mystery dungeon known as the Altar of Ice.  But before I go there, I'll need to find two stones, one black, one white.  With both of them, Kyurem should be able to...

The message is suddenly cut off by the sound of a howling wind, then resumes.

I need to go.  I've been in this Mystery Dungeon too long, and something is following me.  Follow my footsteps.  Kyurem the Clairvoyant will have answers once he is whole.

The message ends there, and everyone is silent for a moment as they try and process what that means.

Emolga's the first to speak.  "Kyurem isn't here then.  So why did your dream say to come here, Platina?"

"Maybe Kyurem knows something we don't.  He can see the future, after all."

Madame Twintales has been listening, but she seems to be distracted.

"That is entirely possible.  Hmmmm...could it be connected to the lack of wild pokemon in the area...?"

The group of pokemon does not have much time to ponder this revelation further, however, as the gigantic double doors on the other side of the room are suddenly thrown open with the force of a blizzard, and a flurry of snow fills the room!

W H O O O O S H ! ! !

Much like when Madame Twintales appeared, a pokemon has suddenly appeared while everyone was unable to see due to the snow.  This pokemon, however, is very, very different from the Ninetales.  Floating on a cloud is a humanoid pokemon with dark green skin and a long, purple tail.  Shadow tinged wind almost seems to wrap around them, and the snowstorm that had persisted during the exploration of those empty corridors has returned, stronger than before.  Accompanying the sudden blizzard is a very airy sounding cry.

Growing Tension: Rising Fear - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

"Who dares trespass on Tornadus's territory?!  You dare ignore the warnings of the Winter Blizzard's freezing winds?!"

Madame Twintales looks furious.  "This palace does not belong to you.  You are the trespasser here."

"This ruin was empty.  So I took it.  And from here, my freezing winds shall cover this land  You have no authority here, and you and all of your companions shall be ejected from this place immediately!"

"I am this palace's warden and a disciple of Master Kyurem.  I shall not let you defile these grounds!"

Keldeo and Emolga walk up next to Madame Twintales, ready to fight.

"I don't know who you are, but I think I can guess what type you are, and nobody challenges Emolga's Enforcers and goes unscathed!  Prepare to be zapped!"

"Nobody threatens my friends and gets away with it.  And as a Sword of Justice, I cannot let you simply do as you please with this continent!"

Kee hears a very excited Hoopa's thoughts in his head.  Yes yes yes, a fight!  And with a Legendary pokemon too!  Let me out let me out let me out!

Zeraora takes the lead once Daxter indicates he's ready.  "Right then.  Follow me.  And be ready for a fight.  I doubt Lord Raikou will need our aid, but we may need to get involved."

As the mythical pokemon leads everyone through the charred, black trees, the only sounds that Team Night Wardens hears are the sounds of the  falling rain and occasional thunder claps as an unseen battle rages on.  The rain does not seem to have an end to it, and it only seems to get heavier as the sounds of battle get louder.  "Wild pokemon must have all been scared away by all the lightning.  We should keep moving."

While wandering through the Charred Thunder Forest, Daxter's group finds a total of 5000 Poké, 2 Cheri Berries, and 2 Reviver Seeds (they can be distributed as necessary before the next part of this scene).

There's no sign of Braixen until the group reaches the source of the sounds of battle, however.  And when they do reach the battle, they only catch the tail end of it.

Immediate Danger: Oh No! - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of T/D/S

The saber toothed Thunder's Boom, Raikou, is facing down what's clearly another electric type, and Braixen has gotten caught in the middle of it.

Raikou roars, calling down bolts of lightning to strike its foe.  Braixen has to dive out of the way because the area of effect of the attack is rather large.  Thunder booms in response, and everyone but Zeraora has to cover their ears.

K A B O O M ! ! !

"That idiot fox!  What does she think she's doing?!  Wait, is that...?"

When the flash of lightning passes and everyone can hear again, they can finally get a clear look at the pokemon battling Raikou.  Floating on a cloud is a blue skinned, humanoid pokemon with a tail made of segmented spikes.  It's holding out an arm, almost seeming to have absorbed the blow Raikou just dealt.  It clenches a fist, and roars back as it launches a bolt of lightning tinged with shadow back at Raikou.

K A C H O W ! ! !

And with the dark flash of that lightning, Raikou's suddenly gone.

Braixen blinks, not quite sure what she's seeing.  "...wait, wha...?  Where did Raikou go...?"

"That is of no concern to you, lowly fire type.  This territory belongs to Thundurus now.  Be a good girl and be on your way before I decide to eject you from this forest myself."

Thundurus's voice booms across the clearing, overpowering the sound of the heavy rain that's continuing to fall.  Braixen almost looks like she's about to run...

...until suddenly Zeraora charges into the clearing and punches Thundurus in the face with a plasma charged fist!  Braixen gasps and stops in place as she watches the scene.

"But it is of concern to me, you intruder!  What did you do to Lord Raikou?!"

Thundurus wipes a bit of lingering plasma off of his cheek.  "So, the steward finally shows himself.  How about I personally show you exactly what happened to your pathetic lord?"  Thundurus holds up a fist, showing that it's crackling with more of that shadow tinged lightning.  And as everyone watches it, it almost seems to spark not just on his arms, but across his entire body.

Daxter's group runs in.  This is gonna be a fight, and there's no way around it!

"Don't worry, we'll back you up Zeraora!"

"No pokemon is going to disrespect Raikou in front of the Expedition Society and get away with it, even if they are as strong as a Legendary!"

"So you brought backup, steward?  Very well then.  Prepare to be blasted away by the power of the Autumn Storm!"

"....Oh dear. These signs....they do not bold well in the slighest"

That simple phrase nicely summarizes Platina's thoughts as the group heads deeper into the dilapidated Glacier Palace. No resistance to their progress, yet not the slightest hint of peace or soundness of well being could be had. Her Instincts were blaring at her throughout the whole trip, keeping her on edge as she anxiously glance about.

"Everyone....I don't think I need to tell you this, but be ready for anything. This stretch of our quest....it brings a old phrase to mind. 'Beware the calm before the storm.' "

How right she was - the discovery at the core of the Palace put her even more high Alert, colored with disbelief and even more worry. Dragon God Kyurem was not here? They were not whole? Sue was going on their own Quest to stop this.....impending calamity? What

The shiny bird could only slowly shake her at Emolga question, looking supremely offput by everything.

"The Pokemon God's will can ever vague and inscrutable, but this...this doesn't fit their standards. Not even one as reclusive as this Kyurem seems to be. So why - "

It was at this point she was interrupted by the *slam!* of the doors, causing her to jerk in the direction of the sound, feathers ruffled and sporting an alarmed look -

She stiffened instantly as she gaze upon the Being that willed Itself to face her group.

That stifling, Godly and immense Presence. That sheer control over the very Wind and Snowstorm itself. The sheer magnitude of Power and Authority they radiated with every Word and Action they wrought.

This Tornadus....They were a Legend.

And it was going to Condemn her group for trespassing .

While everyone else was readying themselves for battle, Platina was just.....paralyzed, stuck in place as she could only stare boggled eyed and fretfully at the Wind God. Unlike her companions she knew what the Might of a Pokemon God was capable of. Moreover, she deeply respected their Existence, practically worshiping them like her own people did. To go against them at all was tantamount to blasphemy to her already, but to Fight them on top of that? Insanity. Pure insanity. Yet everyone was going to do exactly that.

What gave them the Right to do so? What gave them the Will, Courage, and Power?

What could she do about all this? What could she do to help against a Pokemon God?

(....And this is your que, Phantom! I suggest writing out what Actions you want Platina to do along with Kee's own, as I don't think she has the wherewithal to do anything but blindly act out his Orders in the heat of the situation. Also, sorry for the lateness of my reply everyone, but school continue to be a grindstone against my soul....)

...The more they all progress down in the Glacier Palace, the less Kee likes it. He doesn't like it AT ALL. It's way too silent and peaceful for a meaningful place like this one here, both Madame Twintales' and Platina's remarks put his thoughts and feelings into words quite precisely. 'Beware the calm before the storm', she said, and oh how right the shining bird is, that ITCHING and TENSION Kee can feel in his paws and hairtips do fortell something to happen or to come... Whatever that something was.

The sight of FREE LOOT!~ (the Aspear Berry, the Quick Orb, and the two Reviver Seeds) eases and distracts the crittercoon's mind a little, with great glee he packs it away into his guitar bag. Going to be useful resources for dire situations, yay!~

Sue's (!!!) message in that frism fills Kee with BOTH hope and disillusionment...: Firstly, Sue was here, Sue is well, Sue has been found!! (^0^ ) Secondly, something is...very wrong, SOMETHING is brewing, disaster is bound to happen, oh dear... ( ºΔº )

That sudden blizzard and flurry of snow catches Kee very off-guard, but instinctively he takes a defensive stance and growls at that...huge Pokemon that was the source of it?

Kee'a confused, very confused, by the sudden shift of events as well as by the unexpectant aggression of what could only be a specimen of a LEGENDARY Pokemon. There'a no mistaking that PRESENCE, AWE and POWER Tornadus was radiating with every word and every movement of theirs - and yet they're acting so blatantly aggressive, even having claimed these icy ruins illegitimately as their own according to Ninetale's comment? How... How could that be??

He doesn't know nor understands, but that's not important right now. What IS important right now was that Tornadus has initiated a challenge, a battle against them, IN NO WAY Kee will surrender or turn a blind eye on it all. They have a quest they're following and aim to complete, a job on which's fulfillment everyone back in town counts of; and if Tornadus chooses to stand in their way, so be it then, no obstacle is too much if Kee's set and focused on doing what's RIGHT, legendary foe or not is secondary. If there's abolutely no way around carrying out an act of blasphemy if one wants to put it that way, so be it then.

Readying himself to FIGHT, Kee can't help but to catch wind of one of his allies was not...taking the challenge very well, maybe Platina wasn't used to adventures taken such a sudden tun yet? Maybe the latest events have left her with too many questions her mind could handle? Maybe Tornadus' very presence and challenge was too much for her to properly process, causing her to bluescreen and shut off in order to cope...? He has no idea, but he HAD to intercept and act, least he wants something to happen to the pretty steel-bird and valuable member of Team OS. Talking a deep breath, he adresses her directly in a loud and clear voice, hoping to reach her SOMEWAY:

"Platina, dontcha just STAND 'here; do somethin', do somethin', do sOMeTHiN'!! For Aceus' will, DEFEND YARSELF, DEFEND YARSELF, pLEaSE!!1" Thoughts and adrenaline still racing in his head, he comes to the assumption that simply talking to her might not snap her out of her stupor, and so Kee proceeds to grab the satchel he carries and flings it with a -whooosh- over to the steely bird; it lands with a -flooof- directly in front of her beak, leaking some of the content before her.

"DO ANYTHIN', SOMETHIN' pretty please, please just LISTEN, we'll work out tha details later, but for now PLEASE get Hoopa outta his bottle an' make use of that one orange sphere (Read: Quick Orb) from my stuff, WE NEED YAR HELP TOO, WE CAN USE A-N-Y AID WE CAN GET, AND! THAT!! INCLUDES!!1 YOU!!1! " Σ(>△<||| ) The more Kee talks screams the more desperate he begins to sound, until he has fallen into blatant yelling out of an instinct of self-preservation and self-defense. "" I DARE ya t'come closer Tornadus, I DARE YA t'move Tornadus, I DARE YA TO USE PLATINA'S STATE TO YAR OWN ADVANTAGE!!"

Actions/Orders:
As discussed, Kee tries to get Platina to refocus and act, asking/ordering her to 1. release Hoopa from the dinn's bottle (first Action) and 2. use a Quick Orb for +1 Dext for all of us (second Action), while he himself fires off his trademark Snarl at the legendary enemy.

Damage Roll: 2 Special + 2 power + STAB = 5d6
Additional notes: Will autolower hit Tornadus' Special by 1. Soundbased, maybe it'll also has an effect on the wrapped-in-wind-veil Torny has? Because soundwaves.

Kogeki look at the enemy in front of him. A Legendary. The one who rules the Blizzard.

...He cant help but remember fondly of his ninja village and the battles against the storms. However...he need to be strong in the name of his friends.

He must be strong for his friends. He first concentrate in his inner strengh, and concentrate, flexing his muscles a bit by focusing in the power of the Aura, to increase both his offensive and defensive power. And if things are okay, he will increase his speed, using his Sync move: Quick Attack+Shadow Punch.

Bulk Up: Tough(3)+Contest(2)+Brawl(2)-Actions(2)=5D6 (Just in case the dice be not so much merciful, I would like to spend a Will Point to make sure this move works. We need all the preparation in the world).

Quick Attack and Shadow Punch(Sync Move): Dex(2)+Fight(2)+Brawl(2)-Actions(4/6): 2D6/0D6(The last one doesnt matter much since Shadow Punch always hit.
Damage(s): Power(2)+STR(3*)/Power(2)+STR(3*)+STAB(1) = 5D6/6D6
Effect(s): Quick Attack is a priority move, and Shadow Punch always hit it target.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.
