A Shiny Compendium
#31
F-ing Finally.

After about 15 boxes of Minicorns....

Stats are a bit wonky even tho I bred it, unfortunately.

And of course; Shadowfax, after the great Gandalf's horse, Lord of all Horses.

Beautiful Minicorn, and a perfect name!

Do you know yet what will you'll evolve him into?

Already evolved to Oblivicorn. It looks pretty sick! Pics later Smile

HEEEEEYYYOOOO. My 2nd legendary Shiny.

I began soft-resetting for my second account at the Garlikid area, and to my surprise, I landed the shiny only after maybe 10 tries.

Again, my logic of looking for shinies after an extended drought of not meeting one works out.

Gonna brainstorm on this fella. Look forward to all ya!

Edit:

I'll add a short guide on some tricks when trying for Garlikid shiny.

When you're thrown in the cell, you'll notice you already have a Garlikid in your party, even if you haven't actually freed it yet.

HOWEVER.

This Garlikid is inconsequential, and does not need to be shiny. It is actually DIFFERENT from the Garlikid you receive after the quest. Checking, the natures, IV and stats are different.

So how to get your Garlikid shiny?

Save after you get your pokemon, bag and items back and BEFORE entering the lab door to the final battle.

Now go through the door and beat the mean professor up for attempted child kidnapping and animal abuse.

After the Quest is complete, Garlikid joins you, and this Garlikid is actually DIFFERENT from the one before. Check it out. The fastest way is to check it by giving it a nickname, and seeing the sprite there; if it's a shiny sprite or not. Alternatively, you can go to your PC box and look for the star and lack of yellow from its overall green hue. If it isn't a shiny, soft reset and beat the professor again.

RINSE. AND. REPEAT.

Enjoy your legendary shiny!

P.S.

Named her Kana after Kobayashi Kana. There's a likeness there, no?

Time for a grand update on all the shinies up till now...!

Shadowfax, the Minicorn that took so much trouble to breed, is now an Oblivicorn. I have to say, that looks pretty sick Smile

You know Kana, my shiny Garlikid, of course... Hero of Justice!

A present I received from fellow shiny hunter, Clueless! From a shiny Owten to an Eshouten... it may not be the best of mons in battle, but hell if the pink doesn't looks good.

Oh, Indominus, my Sternowatt... it's one of those mons that either work out not bad or doesn't work out at all. I've always contemplated over what item to give it- Leftovers, Focus Sash, or something that makes it a little more hardy and not die to one EQ- but for now this will have to do.

Another mon that doesn't really have much value in team battles, due to its fragileness and subpar... everything else. I normally start off with it as a sacrificial pawn to test out the waters, set up Spikes or deliver a SE blow to injure a mon, but otherwise...

The infamous Shiny Mystery Gift of the past! Sonic the Jerbolta is another one of the Stenowatt/Terlard trio that doesn't have a firm role in my team in competive battle. It's ability is really handy for revenge against Nucleon or to outspeed Inflagetah or Mega Archilles, but otherwise, it's more or less meh.

Holy overused in meta- I bring to you the shiny Yatagaryuu I received in the last Great Wonder Trade Extravaganza, many thanks to Lyna. Bee is invaluable in the team- heck, it's overused as F in the competitive, but only because it's GOOD- 100% boosted Thunder, Great speed and SA... It's a great mon to play against almost anything. And, what counters other Yatagaryuus? An Yatagaryuu of your own.

Oh Legendary Actan. Habu Meijin has a scary attack, and even its speed isn't bad for someone that isn't speed oriented; but it does pack lots of weakness, never mind a fatal flaw to fighting. But heck, I didn't soft reset till calluses formed to not show off how shiny this thing is, so hell it's in my team.

Mao works out against many popular mons in the meta; Baaschuff, any of the dragon types, etc... It does suffer against others of its own fairy typing, however, though it normally has enough bulk to tide over a hit or two.

Berika, the cotton candy lamb, is now an Ampharos! ...Granted, Mega Ampharos isn't that awesome amongst the list of Megas existing, but hey, a shiny mega is better than no shiny mega for me.

Nuclear shinies are awesome. That said, A nuclear tank is just... impossible to work with. Sorry Shimada, pass.

And that's all for now, i believe! I'm trying for a shiny Frosthra at the moment, as well as my dream of a shiny Terrabit... but that's all for the future. Can't wait for the ocean trio to come out, and get soft-resetting again!

You have a nice shiny collection :).

Thank you for a guide for a shiny Garlikid. It is all clear now. (I have thought I should soft reset before I firstly meet Garlikid until I have read your guide.)

What does mean the small yellow 'smiley' near the shiny star?

That smiley means that it once was infected with Pokérus, overcame it and can't be infected once more, @Nekra.

Indeed, a sweet collection... is that a hidden challenge about who gets a shiny Baitatao first once it got released someday? :p

A tip is that you can find Ratsy on Route 10 with the Poké Radar.

I haven't made a big deal about it, but I've actually murdered two shinies in my Nuzlocke while I've been grinding; a Cocoran as well as a Stenowatt. I'm not too sad about those, though it does perhaps make the consecutive rate of nonsensical made-up probablity in my head of meeting shinies harder.

Here's a new fella.

Blackfrost. Because I didn't have enough rubbish makeup fantasy names in my teenage years, and now as a working adult I have to make up for the lost time.

Again, this is the 2nd shiny I've bred, and I've taken over 10 boxes when I've been told others take only 5... I suppose it might be just luck of the draw on my part again.

I'd like to make a little poll to ask your opinion for what method of shiny to hunt on next.

Should I:

a) return to radar-hunting for a Shiny Sheebit, that has failed me thus far?
b) hit up the Power plant for a second Nuclear hunting adventure
c) attempt to breed a new line and wait for a shiny there

I'm not looking for success rate here, just more of a fun thing. So go ahead, hit me up Smile

Go for that shiny Sheebit! ^-^ It's a nice color-sheme, a cool 'Mon in my opinion and you said you do dream of a shiny Terrabit anyway. And I'm curious about what nickname you'd give it...
