A Shiny Compendium

So I decided to make a little thread documenting my little preciouses.

If you've encountered the earlier thread I made in this forum, it laments my loss of my first ever Shiny encounter- a shiny Ratsy. And apparently those only appear occasionally in Venici city, so it was really rare, making the loss of it so much worse. 

No screenshots of this one to share because it's DEAD.



Fortunately I bounced back the next day with this baby here



A perfect pink cotton candy baby Mareep I found randomly in the wild while travelling between towns :o Skimping out on the 250 dollar train fare paid off

Named it after Watanabe Rika, an angel I can entirely relate to this lovely sheep.




Next is this Sternoraptor, which I have named Indominus, for obvious reasons.




Found this one while testing out Pokeradar in the while, was lucky with this as it only took me a few tries as well.


Last of all is the most recent addition to my Shiny team, a shiny Terlard



I was actually Shiny Hunting with the Pokeradar for Sheebit, but this one popped up instead, so hey, why not take it.

And because 2 heads (Nitou) I named her Nitou Moeno...



Well. That's all for now (but hopefully not the end of my Shiny record!) Back to hunting.

*pats on shoulder* RIP, shiny Ratsy. I know the feeling of loosing a shiny (in fact, I lost two... not as rare as Ratsy though, but still... that gif depicts it perfectly)...

Damn, you were able to make up for that with three other shinies. THREE. And this is awesome, let that sink it.... even if the hurt of the loss... remains. That moment of awesomeness, a shiny encounter! Maybe you were running around totally bored at that Route, maybe you had other stuff to do and you've made a step into the grass without intention to do so and thought something like "Damn you, wild Pokemon... I'm not up to you, now!" But then you realize those sparkles flying around for a secound or two and you may think "Huh?"

... and that pure moment when the text box displays that you caught the Pokemon. Feelings intesify as you take a look at your new shiny fosterling, you don't even care if the IV or the nature suck... after all, it's shiny, it's something special. Even more if it is a wild encounter. At least for me.

(Sorry for being so emotional, but well... and good luck on your hunt. *waves with a smile, but also with tears in my eyes* Oh, don't mind me... I'll be fine. *holds a sob*)

I have neither yet.  At what point do they show up?  Right now, I'm at the Theo-grinding spot at Route 13 after clearing Venisi's Gym.

In all of the "official" Pokemon games, I have only ever encountered a single shiny (not counting the red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage)... it was in Crystal, and for the life of me, I can't remember what it was, only that it was a low-level something-or-other that I already had and was sick of seeing on that route (maybe Hoothoot or Rattata or something).  And this was before I knew shinies were a big deal, so... yeah, I'm kicking myself now.

On the same cartridge, I also reset after a Raikou encounter thinking I'd get another shot at catching it if I did (obviously I didn't, and never saw it again)... and Potion'ed/FullHeal'ed/PokemonCenter'ed the heck out of a Pokemon that got Pokerus, getting thoroughly frustrated when it didn't go away (again, not realizing the rarity and benefit of what I had).  Crystal HATED me!

On the fangame side, I was VERY surprised to revive a shiny Aerodactyl from a fossil in Insurgence!  Only shiny in any of the fangames to date, though.

Normal shiny rate in Uranium is 1024, if it hasn't been changed since Twitch told me that on tumblr about a month before they stopped. As for Pokeradar, you'll get if after the main story (I guess, since I'm not done with it too and havn't received it yet), and for a nice ShiyCharm... well, 192 Pokemon "catched" in Tandor's dex.

Awww. Don't mind. Dunno what else to say here, sorry, I just enjoyed reading through it, though. ^^;

While I like shinymons, I don't have the urge to go to the ends of the earth for them. They are just a nice surprise, is all, when I come across one.

Same here, Windos, all the shinies I've gotten so far are surprises and accidents, 2 from breeding, a few more from HAs-hunting, and a few from WT...

Same!  I've never tried actively seeking them (didn't really know one could until very recently TBH), but the one I did get was a nice accidental surprise.  I keep hoping, I guess in part to vindicate the whatever-it-was I ran away from in Crystal.
