[Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels

My bad for the unclear wording.  I was specifically referring to Clair's Gyarados.  Arial's N-Gyarados has 21 base HP.

Oh. Alright. Thanks for clarifying Dragon. With a total of 25 HP (Arial Vit is 4) he can deal survive a lot of damage.

Okay, so...Adventures apparently depicted Gyarados as being able to fly.  Kinda similar to how Dragonair can do it, tbh...

Wow.

(Though maybe Gyarados just 'bounces good', much like a certain time-traveling cartoon samurai...)

If Gyarados could be able to learn Fly that could be good. It would make us locomotion more easily for escape routes. But I guess a giant green dragon-like serpent flying around Celadon City would in the minimum call all the police behind us...yeah even Arial its not that crazy.

Ah Samurai Jack...Used to watch when I was a kid and I get the opportunity to watch the 10 season. The end was very good, but so sad too...

Dragonair can't learn Fly, but it can still fly.  Don't necessarily have to have to be able to learn the HM to get off the ground.  The HM probably just makes travel faster and maybe gives smaller creatures greater strength/stamina for the duration of the move.  At least, that's how I partially reason it when applicable (how else would a Pidgey be able to fly you from one end of Kanto to the other effortlessly?).

In my game, I'll go by Dragonstrike's interpretation of how HM Fly benefits a given Pokémon, since its sounds both simple and logical, and its easy to remember. Thanks, mate!

I can say that a Gyarados can't normally fly or Fly, but with a Surprise it can do either one, the other, or both. Consider what a huge and nearly uncontrollable lug the pseudo Dragon is, though, it will be quite XP expensive to get them it. Bouncing around is also an option for travel, though its hardly a gentle or discrete way of doing it (not that flying on a giant raging beast isn't anymore subtle, but at least you won't get nearly as motion sick, shaken up, and/or leaving craters as you move out).

YW! Smile

Oh hey, that's definitely a neat idea, given how the forum campaigns here work!  Maybe THAT'S how Lysandre's Gyarados can fly like a Dragonair!  I could totally believe that.  ;P

I been thinking that for a while Windos: Since Zeus is exausted after so many battles, could I bring Gaspar and make him Transform into a copy of Zeus, then summon Magnetic Flux? Then I could change his item for Quick Claw or even Super Magnetic. And that could let Zeus rest after so many battles. Or maybe let Gaspar Transform into Metalynx and make him equipped the Metalynxnite to Mega Evolved into Mega Metalynx. Then buff him with Hone Claws. Could I do any of those actions Windos?

Also Windos, I would like to use 25 XP of Gaspar to give hit +1 of Vitality as a surprise.

Pokemon that use Transform can't use Mega Stones to Mega Evolve in the games. This is partially because they can directly Transform into the Megas. In-game explanation ways, it's likely because they aren't actually a species capable of Mega Evolution, even after Transforming into one.

Either way, an in-battle form change for a form change has wonky implications both IC and OOC.

Gaspar can Transform into Zeus and do as you want, and still benefit from the Super Magnet since they're technically a Steel/Electric type while in that form. I'm not entirely sure how long I ruled that a Transformation lasts (I believe I told Dragonstrike how long; Help a fellow out, mate!), however, and holding a Transformation for longer than a standard battle is tiring in of itself (like Mew maintaining use of Reflect Type), and will put the Move on a cool down for at least a Micro Cycle after the mimic has stretched its use as long as it can last.

Agree with Dragonstrike point on Mega Stone/Evolution, but Gaspar would indeed be able to directly Transform into Mega Metalynx and hold that form for however long it will last (If I set a president). They'll only have four of Melchoir's Moves (Which may or may not have Hone Claws as one of them), but you can swap out Items on him freely unlike the real deal, so it balances out nicely!

Was that a price we already agreed upon, or are you just throwing a number out to see how much it would cost? I know for certain that a VIT Surprise would cost more, but not a plain HP Surprise.
