[Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery
A few possible strategies:
-Karen's Magneton setting up Electric Terrain to prevent sleep for all grounded targets, basically screwing over the Abomasnow should they choose to use Grass Whistle.
-A "kill it with fire" mentality. (Read: Spam all fire-type moves your Pokemon know.)
-Sunny Day or similar moves (Like you said) Aspid needs 12 more exp to learn Rain Dance and Lotus can learn both via TM. (put those TM's on my wishlist btw!)

- Terrific Idea! Of course, that means that Catherine won't be able to use Lovely Kiss, but if that means than NONE of the Snovers/Abomasnows can use Grass Whistle, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to pay! Plus, it'll power up any Electric Moves, which even accounting for IE reduction can still be a right nightmare to deal with (particularly if Dragon goes with Iron's interp of the Move/Terrains). Plus, Magy is double Resistant to the CT's Ice/Grass STABs, knows/can know Light Screen and Paralysis (Less Accuracy = Less Moves for them, especially comboed with Confusion!), and has Magnet Bomb as a SE Always Accurate Move, so they're practically born to fight these christmas critters!
- That works too! Keep in mind that Hail gives all them Ice types + 2 Defense, so Physical SE Damage won't be nearly as effective unless you dispel the Weather (If only we had a Pokemon with Cloud Nine). If I recall correctly, Karen's Gastrodon knows Acid ( a Spread Special Poison Move ) so alongside Magenton they should fair well against the Abomasnows!
- Yup Yup! If Phantom's willing, Kee's Vulpix could take Drought as it's Ability for the day and utilize Heat Wave alongside Brigid for maximum bush fire devestation to disrupt the Hail for a bit, and Nagi's HP Fire essentially activates Sunny Day upon use, so there's those options available! Brigid has White Smoke as her Ability (As I was not willing to gamble if Snowpoint Temple would allow Weather or not........) , so no help from her on the Weather front.

Do you think Kee'd be that bold and wild to send out his freshly-hatched Drought-Vulpix into a fight against several huge snowy monsters? No way. :C

I'll throw something out into Game Thread, then I'll come back to this and share a bit what I' planning do to counter them.

I didn't figure you would, honestly. You're not one to do things like that, even when it would be of a significant benefit to you and everyone else to do so and it would practically have no lasting repercussion (Unless Dragonstrike decides to impose some). Freshly hatched Pokemon can fight well as anyone, if we go by Iron's interp with them (Example: Angie), so the only reasons Kee/you don't want to send out Vulpix is RP related or wanting the XP from the fight to go to other Pokemon instead of the fox. Neither of which are really ideal for the rest of the group or Kee themselves, given the sheer might of Hail Boosted Abomasnows/Snovers.

If Kee needs justification to bring them along to the fight, just have them be a non-participate but still outside their Pokeball. Pokemon can still affect the battlefield even if they're not directly in the Fight, so having the fox kit in your chara's hands triggering Drought but not fighting should be viable (Unless Dragonstrike rules otherwise, in which case we're back to square 0).

I'm mainly waiting for your/Mika's reactions to 'Gene's' speeches before I have Ran say anything else, so I'll patiently await your post(s).

That he'd certainly do, unless it counts as a third Pokemon he's bringing into the fight. (@Dragonstrike, can you bring clarificaton concerning this?) If that's not viable though, That Hidden Power from Kogeki's Antarki can appearantly strigger Sunny Weather and possibly overwrite the heavy hailstorm.

As for the battle itself, I wanted to bring Yurei and immediately have her set up a protective Safeguard via summoning her previous owner, for the sole reason to prevent Kee's Pokemon/anyone's from being frozen solid and rendered defenseless. That'd nullify the use of an Electric Terrain from Karen's Magneton, and enabling Lovely Kisses from Ran's Jinx and Karen's Nidorina if desired. How's that sounding, alright?

Offensivewise I've planned to pester them with poison from Minyan, accompanied by Core's Flamethrower as long as possible before Octavia would jump in and take his or Draven's place to continue the fight.

Fun fact: Sinjoh Ruin's name in Japanese is Shinto Ruins.

Yes, having Vulpix influence the battlefield with her Ability would count as a pokemon that is present on it, even if they are not directly fighting.  A Drought (or other weather ability) user needs to consciously focus on maintaining their weather. And if two pokemon with differing weather abilities are on the field, the book states that the pokemon with higher Special will maintain their Weather condition.

Which is ALSO a combination of the two regions' Japanese names (just using the latter part of Johto's name instead of the former)

The lore surrounding Arceus and the Creation trio is also based on Shinto lore.

Ah. I have no idea how much Special Antarki has, but since Vulpix's using Kee's Stats it'll be 4, so a good chance that she's able to keep that sunny weather up. Got another question if I may, could he keep Vulpix in his arms = not 'send her out' to be among the fighters of the other charas and still have her keep that drought up and fire off one or two Heat Waves still? Because, Kee'd be a horrible father figure if he'd bring her directly into the battle, but he would be up to let her join if he can, say, keep her in his arms during the fight and protect her from any incoming attacks. On the other hand, that'd make HIM vulnerable and a target, does it? Maybe it'd be better to have Vupix out but not attack the Abomasnow as otherwise they'd figure out that this fox is responsible for the sunny weather and lash out at it.

Sound perfect, dear! Of course, if Yurei doesn't end up going before any of the Snover/Abomasnow and gets put to Sleep/Frozen themselves, then Safeguard becomes a less than perfect solution. I could perhaps try to have Brigid After You them into the lead, but that in of itself is not dependable due to it being practically impossible to do outside of battle (Due to balancing, unless I enact shenanigans to make it work) or inside of battle, due to the fact she may get disabled before using it or being slower than Yurei. Therefore, it still may be a good idea to have Magneton use Electric Terrain regardless, as having every form of redundency in place against Sleep is not bad at all.

Like the team, so it's fine be me!

And my expectations of you shutting down my compromise have been precisely meet. Whether that is a good thing or not is up to debate, but it can't be argued that you're very keen on balancing any ideas that could grant us advantages back into neutrality at best, and made completely unfeasible/bad at worst.

In any case, if the book says that having the Higher Special is necessary to win the weather wars, then having Vulpix out (by whatever defination we subscribe to here) would be pointless, as the Abomasnow/Snover likely have higher Special than it or Dragonstrike could increase their Special to ensure that their Snow Warning is the dominate Ability active. At the very least we still have access to Nagi's Hidden Power Fire (Which has Priority from Prankster, to boot), which would at least manually override the Weather for a bit before the mean greens reset it at the first opportunity (Via Ability or using Hail), so the plan to dispel their Weather ain't a total bust.
