It doesn't take long for Karen to protest Pyra squeezing her half to death.  "I'm fine, I'm fine, Pyra!  You can let go of me now.  What happened wasn't entirely your fault, okay?  Let's just move on now."

As for Pyra's report on the encounter with Team Gallop, Karen agrees with Kee.  "Why would we have to fight them?  I don't really want to fight anybody if I don't have to...I'd prefer if we didn't start a fight at all..."

--------------------------------------------

*rolls*

The other side of the large rock is yet more corridors of trees with smaller rocks visible between them.  Just with a very large, obvious rock blocking one of the paths.  Some of the gravel on the other side can be seen peeking out from underneath it.  Nothing in particular happens as the group walks past it, so they're able to reach the next tile without any difficulty.  As falling into another trap so soon after escaping one is a rather unappealing idea, Pyra sets a slow pace so that they can keep an eye out for danger before it reaches them this time.

...and the group finds themselves in a corridor that seems to loop around back to where they started.  As they creep along, the trees forming the path creak as the wind blows past them.

And then Pyra hears a particularly loud creak from one of the trees ahead (about halfway through the corridor, where the junction is) as a stronger gust of wind blows past.  Something seems to be different with that particular tree...

Pyra was reluctant to let her little fairy friend go after so recently reuniting with her, but she did so none the less. Perhaps she could cuddle with them later to fully assure herself that all was well between them.....hmm.....

Of course, just because she let go doesn't mean she isn't going to be sticky nearby to make sure nothing else bad happens to her. One big mishap was enough for everyone this expedition, yes yes!

Karen also voicing her distaste for any confrontation with Team Gallop (or any confrontation period) doesn't manage to make the lil' fiendess frown, though she lets out a dissatisfied *hmm* and gives a small shake her head to herself as she begins to lead the group to the next part of the Mystery Dungeon. Yet again another one of her companions disagrees with seeking punitive vengeance against or at least scorning Team Gallop for reasons she just doesn't understand, despite explaining what they did (or lack thereof) and their deplorable character. What reasons did they have not to judge those foals wanting of contempt and punishment? What reasons did they have to forgive them - or if not that, put aside their transgression?

She didn't understand, but that was okay, for she didn't have to. Understanding was not required to serve, accommodate, and represent her friends and companions Wills. So long as she could do that, some form of comprehension of them and the ideals that guide them could come later, eventually.

Until then, she would serve and lead them the best she could, faithfully and unerringly. Sometimes with confusion, vexation, or outright frustration and other worrisome feelings too (like right now), but as she was quickly learning that was all a part  of her friendships and relationships with them. Not a great part, but one she was fine with accepting.

Kogeki suddenly going over to hug her, therefore, came as a big surprise to the fiery demoness, her eyes widdening a bit as she looked at him, mystified. Until he spoke, at which point her gaze warmed and softened and she returned his embrace, smiling tenderly at the phantom brave.

".....Thank you, Kogeki. I will keep your promise and faith in me well, I shall."

Then came his whispered remark and gratitude, which earned him a somewhat befuddled look at first, before a flash of understanding passed in her eyes and the look turned bemused as she whispered back.

"No thanks are needed, no, for what you claim I didn't do. After all, your life draining and soul siphoning is an integral part of you, my friend. I accept and love every part of you completely, no matter if they be good or bad.

*Thinking for a bit* Hmm....mayhaps you can conduct your vim stealing arts with me later, yes, in private duotude with just us two, if you desire not to be judged by our friends for it?"

Oooh, intriguing! What will Kogeki think of her words, and her offer? Regardless, she'd soon let him go, and at last start leading her friends onwards on their current quests!

-----

Huh.....a tree is making suspicious noises, and is giving off a strange air? Very curious. So much so Pyra can't help but investigate it herself with great scrutiny, look at and around the tree and touching it this way and that! All carefully, of course , and with her friends ready to bail her out or back her up if something troublesome crops up from her investigation. She has learnt her lesson about recklessly doing anything in a MD, indeed!

When she said those words, Kogeki feel his face burn a bit more, looking a bit more red than usual. When she invite Kogeki to...show his Aura Drain Skills, Kogeki already blush face turn even more red! Even his black parts of his face turns red too. He had some mixing feelings. He feel...wrong for some reason he cant exatcly explain. But a way he also thinks this might be something he could do. To understand his skills of Aura Draining. And maybe understand Pyra a bit more.

What could go wrong right? Right?

So, despite having such strange and confuse thoughts Kogeki cough and was capable of saying something. "W-well...*Cough* If there is no problem I-I guess, w-we can d-do it y-yes. I-I-I was looking a-anyway for training in any way..." Kogeki words tremble a bit, and for the first time Kogeki didnt had the right words to say toward his teammate. Me thinks the Delta Anubis have a soft spot maybe?

Kogeki cough, trying to restore his old serious pose again. "Anyway...Enough of chit-chat. We still need to find Stufful before Team Gallop. And I really want to see what kind of strong Auras we might find." He begin to walk and almost stumble in a stone, still a bit flustered by Pyra words. He quick recover and continue his path, hopping no one notice his awkward actions.

------------------------------------------------

Kogeki look around with everyone else along the way. When they see the tree, Kogeki try to call her. "Wait Pyra. Before we touch the tree, let me try something if there is no danger ahead."

Kogeki close his eyes and try to expand his awareness and try to peak at least a little grasp of the future and try to find clues of the danger ahead of them.

(Oh ho ho....so you're having Kogeki take it that way? I though you said he wouldn't be interested in Pyra! Well, this is a pleasant turn of events that I can't pass up on....)

*Flashback!*

Seeing the dread anubis becoming so flustered and red faced after her own matter of fact (to her) comments and offer was mildly perplexing and intriguing to Pyra, as she didn't expect them to become that way just by her speaking kindly and truthfully to him. Come to think....the way he was acting heavily reminded her of Kee whenever he got all strangely nervous and antsy around her sometimes, the reasons for which she only has a vague understanding of: certain behaviors of hers triggers an unusual emotional response in them. One that makes them act so odd but.....cute and endearing too. Does Kogeki share those same reasons for acting so funny?

More evidence lending credence to her budding hypothesis when the spiritual ninja stuttered out an agreement to her simple offer to help him use his Aura Draining in training or out in the wild by themselves, which sparked an idea from the brimstone imp. A mischievous idea, one that made her smile grow just a bit wider and feisty.

As Kogeki turned and tried to clumsily walk away from her (something else she found endearing too), she reached forward with surprisingly speed and deftness and latched on, turning him around and pulling him in once more. She got him right up close to her, face to face, and she gave him a sort of smile that would shivers down any mans spine as she leaned in close, pressing her nose against his.

"Oh, oh, whatever is the matter, what sort of affliction have you suddenly come down with? One that has you so crimson in the face so quick, and shaky in your movements? Hmm.....regardless of what its or may be, I shall cure you of it...."

Pyra trails off.....as she plants a kiss on both checks.

"...By kissing you better. May you now be well in body and spirit, Kogeki my dear friend."

She gives him a wide smile full of feisty cheer and lets him go, observing his reaction for just a moment before twirling away and skipping off to take her lead position in the group.

Now that was some good fun! The kind she wouldn't mind repeating and developing further, hm hm....

Ohh, all this wind blowing in this area is k and inda enjoyed by Ziggy Kee - it's interesting, it triggers his semi-massive curiosity, it blows new scents to him to pick up. In fact, when he sniffs the air blown into their direction that causes that one particular tree to creak extraordinarily loud, what does he notice?

Furthermore, this - let's call it exchange - between the fierly demon and deltadoggo isn't missed by Ziggy Kee, and it sparks very mixed feelings; the biggest part of these feelings were confusion closely followed by astonishment. (・_・ ) ? ?????????????? Okay, either Pyra just enjoys casually playing and flirting around just like his human-self liked to do with the ladies that approached him, or she could be...ah, what was it called again... oh yes, polyamorous! So, she wouldn't mind sharing him with Octavia.:*☆, would she? But whether this would hold true the other way round...? D-doubtful. And whether he himself would...

And then Kee slams his head against a tree to stop this train of thoughts.

Flashback on!

Even Kogeki with his experience as a ninja was waiting for such action coming from Pyra. His guard was down, and Pyra was physically stronger than him. When she get so much close that way, he not only get embarassed but also that annoying alarm in his head when he is close to a Pokemon he is weak is begin to ring. And Pyra smile didnt help very much.

When she said those words and plant the kisses in each of his cheeks, Kogeki was just like a tomato right now while she walk away. After a few seconds, he punch his face two times to return to reality and focus in his mission. Damn it.

Flashback off!

Dax watched Pyra plant kisses on Riolu with mild exasperation. If he turned redder he'd end up becoming a fire type! Dax chuckled. And called out to them once more. "Oy! Let's get a move on shall we? There's a stufful who needs our help."

Kee doesn't smell anything particularly out of the ordinary.

Analyzing the situation more carefully with Foresight, Kogeki realizes something about that loud tree: that was the sound of its bark creaking and cracking!  Which means...

...unfortunately, by the time Kogeki's used the context clues to figure out what will happen, it's already happening.  As Pyra walks up the the tree and begins to curiously touch it, another strong gust of wind blows past, and the old tree buckles under the force, its brittle bark cracking loudly...

...and the tree soon begins to fall over!

And it's going to fall right on top of Pyra!

Big oof. How about a will-power'd STAB-Tackle by Ziggy Kee directly at the tree to push it out of the way before it can fall on her?
