Brailip's Rock Head ability
#1
Hi there! I'm new, but I would like to make a suggestion c:

I noticed while playing on my second save file after catching a Brailip that it has two abilities ::

Rock Head and Swift Swim

Of the two, Swift Swim is the only one that has any actual function for this pokemon. Why is that?

Rock Head could be a great ability, but Brailip - -at least according to the wiki -- does not learn any moves that have recoil damage.

My suggestion is to either change Brailip's second ability to something that makes more sense for the pokemon, or expand its movepool slightly to include at least one move with recoil damage.

A few moves that currently exist that could make sense ::

Take Down
Double-Edge
Submission
Head Charge

Obviously, I'm not suggesting we add ALL of these moves. It could even be cool if a new move was created that had recoil damage, perhaps even a Psychic move, considering Brailip is Psychic.

Now, I'm not sure if Brailip and its evo are the most competitive pokemon out there, so this suggestion may not seem important at all, and that's fine. But I do think it could still be nice if it were changed.

And maybe there are other pokemon out there with similar issues that I'm as of yet unaware of. I am still very new to the game after all. c:

Have you taken a look at this intelligent fish's base stats? Attack is pretty low and since it would probably used as a special attacker with some bulk in special defence (or the other way round?) plus a nature that decreases the attack, adding those moves would be a bit useless.

It also has Telepathy as a hidden ability, which may be some sort of use. Maybe.

Also... *throws some owl-treats in your direction* I have plenty of those because of my sweet Dartrix in Moon, so enjoy.

The low Attack is why I also suggested a new Psychic move c: or a new alternate ability.

Telepathy is also only truly useful in double battles and such so.. not much use, haha XD

I will take the owl treats, though! /gobbles them up o^o

Edit :: Also, as I did mention -- it's not exactly a star pokemon, but it's still an interesting typing that I feel could have more potential without making it crazy-strong with a few tweaks.

A few suggestions would be Technician, Psychic Surge (Sun/Moon ability), Storm Drain or maybe Water Veil.

Psychic Surge might be a bit much for an Ability on a regular pokemon. I think they only exist on legendary pokemon, currently? Although introducing the move Psychic Terrain in general might be interesting.

The others you suggested are certainly viable options as well, though, especially Technician imo.

Psychic Terrain is probably a bit much for the devs to try to work into the game. Water Veil seems like the best candidate for something to replace Rock Head, though.

Well, the thing is, most Pokemon in Uranium still run on their original designs, no offense to JV and Twitch, Uranium is a great game over all, but they did originally give Miasmedic (a poison type) Poison Heal as an ability and M-Archilles (a glass cannon) Rough Skin... So I'm sure we'll run into more similar cases over time and we can only hope our new devs will get to them eventually

That's a fair point, but Rock Head is utterly useless on a special attacker with no recoil attacks. I don't like to question the logic of what the original devs were thinking/doing, but... why Rock Head? I just don't get it.

That's a fair point. I'm not really sure what the thinking would be in cases like that, either. XD

I mean like I said, I'm still pretty new to the game and maybe there are bigger issues such as glitches and whatnot that certainly should be worked on first and (unrelated, but..) I also found out apparently there's no Water Pale or similar despite the fact berries are a thing, so. XD

But still. It'd definitely be nice if things like that could be put on some sort of to-do, list. In the end it only improves the game experience, after all. c:

Water pail? There's actually sprites in the files for the SquirtBottle and the Sprinklotad, even if they're generic assets imported from the starter pack. But yeah, who knows what the future holds.
