Flinching from Hoopa's sneak attack from one of his portals is the first sign of any kind of reaction from the strange pokemon.  Despite that, though, they barely seemed to be phazed by the attacks they've taken at all, even as Daxter bears down on them with frosty fangs.

"What the heck was that?  That wasn't any kind of attack I recognize!"

"I bet that weird bat pokemon did something to them!  That guy's appearance just screams evil villain!"

Daxter barely has time to blink as Kogeki disappears from the field. "Wha- KOGEKI WHAT THE FROSTY FUCK?"

"Primal, you say? Right then. Looks like it's an Ice Fang and Bubble combo once again! No wonder my jaw was hurting so sodding much all day."

Huh, that Nohface-kitty-creature-thingy is kind of a tough one, still standing despite them all going after it. Well, that makes Ziggy's Kee's eager only DOUBLE in amount and his blood boil even MORE as the adrenaline rushes through his whole tiny furry body!!1 "Havin' gone Primal, ya 'ave? ...HAH, ya think that scares me off in a way or what?! " He lunges at Nohface completely unafraid, unfazed and unimpressed, screaming at full volume as he does so and getting +1 Brawl for 6XP as he does so for some extra-accuracy on his extra-close-action: Mlem'ing the foe!~

(Like with Phantom. I also apologize for my tardiness. I had a BUNCH of Exams that needed studying, and I STILL have a bunch more to study up on. Urgh......)

Unlike Dax, the smol demoness looked happy that Kogeki decided to flee the scene, letting out the smallest sigh of relief before focusing once more on the faceless fox. The last thing she wanted was him falling in combat, even with the Revivers they all have, so if he decided that discretion was the better part of valor then she had no complaints!

Hoopa's warning earns it a small nod from her - she'll start running interference to prevent that Beastly Spector from getting at their friendly djin for now on!

Then it happened.

Shadows deepened around Nohface.
Blackened.
Darkened.
The bleak feeling of the abyss crawled across her skin as it impacted and sent her stumbling.

This....this....was this.....!?

"The Darkness.....!?"

Pyra lets loose a otherworldly snarl as her smiling face turns into a near murderous scowl before bolting off towards the beast, intent on sinking her fangs into it's skin and tearing it apart!

Orders: Welp, Pyra's MAD now. Time for a first Action Bite, followed up with an Ember, both in as aggressive of a manner as she can possibly inflict upon the Nohface. Additionally, if it tries to target Hoppa with Attacks she'll Body Block for him (Sacrificing an Action to do so). Time for things to get Serious....

The glow surrounding Karen starts to fade a little, but not before she starts attacking just a liiiitle faster than she was before.

"Well, I suppose we couldn't have exactly planned for Freezing them, but at least they didn't get to attack us while they were Frozen!"

The glow around Karen fades as she tries to stretch the limits of her capabilities, but the resulting sound is little more than a gasp as she feels the power start to wane.  "...huff, huff...guess I...still have to practice that a little...whew..."

The now unfrozen Nohface tries to lunge at Hoopa while everyone else is worn out from their attacks!

Hoopa sees the attack coming because of how slow Nohface is moving due to the paralysis, and it summons a portal in front of itself at the last second!  Nohface's tongue goes through the portal, then emerges from a second one behind it, causing it to hurt itself with its own attack!

"Ha!  Taste the power of the mythical Hoopa, you wannabe Ghost!  If you mess with the djinn, you get the horns, buddy!  Now come on, bring it on!"

Nohface has slowed down considerably at this point, both due to the Paralysis and the toll that taking all these attacks has taken on its body.  It's no longer standing completely upright, swaying slightly from side to side as it tries to stand straight.

And then Nohface suddenly starts to slink backwards, returning to the shadows from whence it came.

"Hey, come back here you coward!  We still have to finish this!"

Marcus holds his bone club sideways, thrusting it in front of Hoopa to pause the djinn's advance.  "They didn't return to their original position.  I think they're going to let us pass now, and we have bigger Magikarp to fry than them right now.  I think we should save our strength for what's up ahead."

"Grrrr...much as I hate to admit it, you're right.  If I was at full power, this would be a breeze...*sigh*...but I'm not.  And that black and red bat pokemon...he was giving even me the heebie jeebies!  Me!  Whatever's coming up, I've got a bad feeling about it..."

"Me too.  Everyone in agreement?  Though I suppose we'll have to wait for Kogeki to catch up first..."

"Maybe we can try and figure out a way to get through that collapsed tunnel in the meantime?"

Everyone (including Kogeki) gets 3 exp for fending off Nohface and surviving an encounter with a powerful adversary.

Meanwhile Kogeki's dashing as quickly away from the battle as he can, putting as much distance between himself and the Nohface as possible.  That strange familiarity, though...why does that pokemon look so familiar?

As he thinks about the beady red eyes peering out of the darkness of that hooded visage, that's when it hits him.  He's seen eyes that look like that before.

Kitsunoh.



Memories come rushing back as the revelation hits him.

A vision of the masked Kitsunoh looking out over a boiling sea, only to leap down to the water moments later...

The musings of individuals wondering how he had heard of such a creature, thinking it had become extinct due to being overhunted...

He can't remember very many more details about the mysterious pokemon than that, but the revelation that he knows something is quite significant.

Kogeki's Logic increases to 3.

The riolu slows down, the run becoming a walk, the walk becoming a complete stop as he reaches the light of the previous room.

Kecleon looks up from examining his wares as Kogeki enters the room.  "Oh my.  What brings you back here, valued customer?  Is everything all right?  You look like you've seen a Ghost!"

Where it not for the near seething RAGE at discovering and Fighting a Pokemon using The Darkness, Pyra might have noticed Karen's rapid growth. Alas, her focus was completely absorbed by that beast, with not even the sharp-cold feeling of Ice doing much more than keeping her from going totally berserk. A small part of her mind did note down the sensation for later investigation, but that's besides the point.

Seeing one of her occasionally erstwhile friends trap themselves onto the frozen faceless fiend irritates the fiery demoness even more, prompting her scathing retort and subsequent discovery on thermodynamics and irritating her even more. Oh goody, her Fire can have downsides to its usage - another little detail she has to keep in mind!

By the time Nohface decided to retreat Pyra had worked herself up to a near frenzy again, chomping at the Pokebit and ready to pursue after the Nohface and finish it off. So Marcus' denial of such earned him a face full of scowling demoness as she rounded on him, the full brunt of her almost alien and Intimidating Stare.

The sheer intensity and coherence of her words should be a major warning sign to everyone that this Encounter has majorly upset her well beyond her usual tolerances and previous outbursts. Already she looked like she was ready to walk past the bones craftsmon and chase after the beastly spirit, with only the brief mention of Kogeki giving her pause long enough for anyone to get a word in edgewise against her....

It's not that Pyra's Intimidation attempt doesn't have an effect.  Marcus does wince a little when Pyra scowls at him, visibly hurt to be the target of such aggression, but the Cubone stands firm.  He calmly lowers his bone weapon, and his response is very measured, calm, and Logical.

"If you all want to go after that creepy pokemon, by all means, I'll follow you.  But this is going to need to be a group effort.  That bat's clearly up to something, and he apparently didn't need much time to do whatever it is if he was only telling that Nohface to stall us, not stop us.  I suspect the Nohface is retreating to rejoin him, having finished its task.  If we go after it now, we're probably going to run into its master too, and I doubt such an encounter would end well for us.  If you go alone, even less so.  And if you walk down that tunnel to the next floor of the dungeon...well, there's no turning back."

Those memories...Kogeki somehow feel it was important. Really really important. "Kitsunoh..." Kogeki barely hear what Kecleon said. He look at him. "You could say that again...Me and my companions was attacked by a strong enemy, and I was forced to a temporally retreat." He looks at his paw and then close his fist. "I feel a little better so I should return now and help my companions somehow. Thanks for asking."

Kogeki felt ashamed of himself for escaping the battle. He felt a little healed so he will need to return and help what his friends need. He go back to where his friends is, and hopeful see if they are okay. He clench his soul and body, remembering some of his old training in the past, in how much is important to have a strong body capable of take hits.

Increasing Kogeki Defense Attribute from 1 to 2 now using 10 XP! Now he is not a complete piece of paper!

Pyra, after staring holes into Marcus and thinking hard on what he said, grinds out a agreement to his suggested course of action, though not without informing him the the none-to-pleasant consequences of his decisions.. She isn't pleased with it at all, but she was not so far gone into her SEETHING HATRED of The Darkness as to ignore perfectly sound Logic (even if it was coming from someone she was well disinclined to like at this point). Nothing is going to improve her mood at ALL, though, until that Creature of Darkness is decisively taken care of.

His questions about it don't do much to settle her down, though they do give her enough pause as to how to answer him based on what she knows-not yet knows-deeply alongside her God Given Purposes.
