[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

(I'll take a look at the structure of Paradox movepools a bit later and get back to you on that!)

"You don't know the half of it, Dodger.  Let's just say there's several reasons why my superiors sent me clear out here over anyone else."

Seddi will salute the surprisingly docile Paradox Gligar.  "Pleasure to meet ya.  Looks to me like we'll make a decent pairing, and that I'll need to keep my food stores well stocked.  Let's get out of here before something bigger and even meaner shows up.  Don't think either of us would enjoy scrappin' with a bigger predator."

One lean, mean, status spreading scorpion acquired and recalled to their ball!  Seddi will give Goodra a thumbs up as well before recalling them to their ball.

"Right then.  Let's hightail it to your vehicle and start makin' our way over to that embassy building, Dodger.  Don't fancy running into a Wandering Hurricane or the like.  I'm here to study the critters that call this place home, but I don't have a death wish."

Hopefully Dodger slows down when they actually get to the city. For traffic safety, of course. But Seddi hasn't forgotten about the other six individuals nor that gemstone either...

On the way back, Seddi will shoot the Professor a text message to keep her updated.

Headed to the city now.  Captured a young Sutalöran Paradox you'll likely be interested in taking a look at later.

Darren curses under his breath. Should've expected that Fake Out.

"Electro Ball to protect yourself"

Electro Ball clash
Damage: Special(5)+STAB(1)+Magnet(1)+bonus (?)+2=9D6*+1 (base)
Accuracy: Dex (3)+Fight(3)+Channel(3)+single action(1)-penalties(?)= 10d6 base
Notes: +1d6(max 4) to damage pool for each point of dex user is above opponent

Big Welcome to Sutalor Battle Round 4!

Just as Meinshao is about to squish Galv, they fire off a desperate Electro Ball to counter its force!

Bounce vs Electro Ball Clash!
Accuracy of EB: 5 (The Move uses Special!) + 3 + 3 + 2 Single Action - 2 Pain + 1 SE = 11D6 + 1 Clash Accuracy!
A. of B. : STR (*4) + 3 Fight + 3 Brawl - 2 Action - 1 Inaccruacy - 1 IE = 7D6 -1 Clash Accuracy!
(1)(4)(1)(5)(6) (2)(1)(1)(3)(3) (2) + 1 vs (4)(3)(6)(5) (5)(3)(5) - 1
Meinshao barrels through the Electro Ball, taking its full Damage, but also going to deal full Damage to Galv and then some!
EB: 5 + 2+ 1 + 1 + *1 - 3 Special = 7D6 Damage
A. : *4 + 3 - 3 VIT + 1 Breakthrough = 4D6 + 1 Damage
(4)(3)(5)(1) (6)(4)(2) Mienshao takes 4 Damage; 4/9 HP, - 1 Pain!!
(3)(5)(6)(6) Galvantula is clean KOed and flattened!
Meinshao does NOT gain HP, due to the strain of the Clash!

"Heck yeah! Now's all I have to do is crush that other Bug of yours! You're on the ropes now, Rissy!"

Current Status:
Meinshao - 4/9 HP, - 1 Pain, - 1 DEX, + 1 STR and Accuracy

Big Welcome to Sutalor Battle Round 5!

Big Welcome to Sutalor Battle Round 5!

Deciding to soften up Meinshao for one big blow in linue of a barrage of attacks, Glommena prepares to scream his lungs out. Meanwhile, the kung-fo mammal decides to crush them under a pile of rocks!

Rock Tomb 1!
9D6 + 1 Accuracy - 1 Inaccuracy - 1 Pain - 2 Actions = 6D6 Dice
(6)(3)(3)(6)(6)(6) Lucky for you it wasn't a Crit!
Damage: STR *4 + 2 - 3 VIT + 1 SE = 3D6 + 1 Damage
(1)(4)(1) Miraculously Glommena only takes 1  Damage; 7/10 HP!
Glommena's DEX is reset to Base!
Meinshao restores 1 HP!
(5/9)

Screech
SPE (1) + Fight (4) + (3) - 2 Actions - 1 Pain  = 5D6 Dice
(2)(4)(2)(3)(2) Close!
Meinshao's Defense decreases by 2!

"What?! They toughed it out?! Grr....well, they can't do anything about this! Back up top!"

*Zoop!* Up Meinshao goes once more, and safely out of Range of Contact Moves until they touch down...! She also restores 1 HP! (6/9)

...If Glommena and you didn't opt to Hold Their Action until they Land; you ain't that headstrong about Combat!
(Just this once I'll cover for you here, but be more mindful of what Moves your Opponent has and make plans to Counter them accordingly. If I didn't, you'd have automatically Missed the Poison Tail and Triggered a Fortune Roll, which would have probably ended....poorly, while Mein would have gotten a free SE Hit)

What goes up must inevitably return to the earth, and the martial Fighter faithfully follows this old saying as they barrel straight towards your whirly Buggy!

Bounce 3
9D6 + 1 Accuracy - 1 Inaccuracy - 1 Pain - 6 Actions = 2D6 Dice
(2)(1) Doh ! Rolling Fortune Roll!

Base 1 Fortune + Other 2 + Sailor's 2 =  5D6 Dice
(6)(4)(6)(2)(1) Pair of Clubs, 2 Fails, 1 Success

...And falls just short, hitting the ground HARD and then tripping over with just as much force onto Glommena, faceplanting into him while letting out a yowl embarrassment! Move still hits, but Damage is halved, Meinshao takes Recoil from the Move that isn't halved, and Glommena gains + 1 Accuracy to their next Move

Damage: *4 + 3 - 3 + SE = 4D6 + 1 Damage, halved, rounded down
(4)(5)(5)(6) Glommena takes 2 Damage; 5/10 HP, - 2 Pain!!
(6)(4)(1)(6) Meinshao takes 3 Damage; 3/9 HP!
Meinshao recovers 1 HP
! (4/9)

Your devilish derby dirtbug doesn't hesitate - they lash out and take advantage of their Moment of weakness!

Poison Tail 3
Accuracy: *8D6 - 2 Pain - 6 Actions + 1 Bonus = 1D6 Dice
(6) HIT!
Damage: STR (3 [Remember, use your Trainer's STR for your Pokemon!!!]) + 2 + STAB + Poison Barb - VIT (*1) = 6D6 Damage!
(2)(1)(4)(1)(6)(6) Meinshao takes 2 Damage; 2/9 HP!
(6) Bleh! Meinshao is Badly Poisoned...! This ALSO cancel their Regenerator healing, as it's working into overdrive in keeping the toxins from killing them later on!

Poison Resistance Check!
VIT(3) - 2 = 1D6 Dice!
(4) The furred warrior barely manages to keep their lunch in, but both they and their trainer know it won't be so lucky next time....

The Salior, seeing how miserable his Mon is after royally making a fool of itself and getting Badly Poisoned for their troubles, as well as knowing that  the chances of clutching victory were too slim for either of their like, decides to call it there.

"Alright, that's enough! I give! Proved your not some soft pansy and worth...and I ain't fucking around with Poison. Here!"

The man tosses you something - a Bag of 2 Sitrus Berries, as well as The Sailor's Number!

"Name's Hammond! Call me up if ya want another Brawl, or want to try my life style on for size (Paying Work that counts also as a Training Session!)! May Sutalor treat ya well, ya Footer!"

With that said he gives his Meinshao a Pecha to treat their Poisoning and returns to his post with his partner, where a bunch of sailors were hooting at your upset and jeering good naturally at their fellow man at sea. Already, you can see the Meinshao heal up right before your eyes - Regenerator sure is some strong BS, but convenient for a life of hard work!

You won! 5 + 2 XP for You, Glommena, and Galv - the extra due to some particularly good Fortune going your way!

===

Before you could properly celebrate you victory you feel a *Bap!* impact your head! Turning around, you see your Mentor Aaron, looking a bit irate as they shook their cane at you!

"There you are, and there you go! That'll teach you for disappearing on me without word - almost think I lost you entirely to this land already! At least you won that battle against that burly sailor, or otherwise I'd have more choice words! Now why did you go off on your own, ya lil' scamp?"

At that moment you could feel your Gemstone pulse a bit, and a tangible tugging force was suddenly pushing/pulling deeper into the city. Towards something. What, you can't know for certain....but you have a good feeling what it is all about. Question is, do you want to follow it?

First, exp spending:
Darren uses all but 4 to increase knowledge to 2!
Galvantula uses all 9 to learn Thunder Wave, and levels up!

Darren rubs his head where he got beaned
"Sorry, I know this might be hard to believe, but, I have to meet some people." Darren shows Aaron the strange gemstone, "This is pulling me that way," Darren points the direction of the tugging force. Darren'll take the oportunity with or without Aaron to find a Pokemon Center to heal up. Then he follows the pull.

Nalu manages to automatically take down (Faint) a Cutiefly and bring it to you swiftly before that moment, however - small comforts, though, as the flowery fae turns its baleful gaze upon thee!

You DARE disturb the sanctity of this Domain so egregiously?! Pay the price for your crimes!!

As the Florge readies to begin casting and blasting, you begin to curse your Patron for this mess. Mentally, of course - rather not be on the receiving end of Her curses too!

Initiatives:
Florges: DEX (2) + Survival (5) + Alert (2) + (2)(1)(2)(4) =18
Nalu: 3 + 2 + 3 + (2)(4) = 14

Florges goes 1st, and Nalu goes second

Wrath of the Flowery Fae Round 1!
[/spoiler]

Drats, the last thing he wanted to see now. At least the right guy for the job is out, even if he currently lacks a way to put his spikes to use and status is looking unreliable for this foe.

''
Nalu, start off quick with a Wide Guard!'' (2 dex + 2 fight + 5 channel -2 action = 7d6)

''Then get em with a boiling Scald.'' (2 dex + 2 fight + 5 channel -4 action = 5d6)

He has a plan, though things might get a little risky.

Wrath of the Flowery Fae Round 1!

Florges doesn't hesitate - she sends forth a HUGE surge of Fae Magicks at Nalu! Acting fast, your spiky friend quickly erects a Barrier to blunt it!

Wide Guard 1
(3)(4) (2)(3) (6)(6)(3)
*Ping!* Protect Effect Up!

Moonblast! 1
Accuracy: SPE (5) + Fight (3) + Channel (4) - 2 Actions = 10D6 Dice
(6)(3)(6)(6)(3) (4)(6)(1)(5)(5) It burns so bright! Critical Hit!
Damage: SPE 5 + 3 + STAB -  INS (4) - 1 IE - 3 Wide Guard = 5D6 - 4 Damage!
(4)(3)(4)(4)(1) + (1)(1) No Damage!

The living bundle of flowers somehow looks even more enraged at their most powerful Move did nothing to that menace, and decides to take steps to close out any possibility of salvation for it!

Lucky Chant 2
(5)(6)(2)(3) (2)(2)(-)(-)
(1)s are negated in Rolls in MOST cases; in this case, it also Rerolls them once, so furious and spiteful is this Chant!

Nalu, beginning to feel the heat, decides to share it by shooting a scorching hot bullet of water at her!

Scald 2!
(4)(5)(6)(1)(2) Hit!
Damage: SPE (2) + 3 + STAB - INS (5) = 1D6 Damage Dice
(5) Florges takes 1 Damage; 16/17 HP!
(6)(2)(6) *Sizz* Florge is Burnt, and takes an additional 1 Damage; 15/17, - 1 Pain, - 1 STR!!

The guardian of the grove screams out as she begins to visibly wilt from the supranatural heat that was roasting her alive, and swiftly does what she can to soothe it away!

Aromatherapy 3
(2)(3)(1)(3)(1) Oh dear...! Crit Fail + Fortune Roll, negating!

(*2)(3)(3) + *(1)(1) 3 Fails, 1 Pair of Clubs!!! (If you're wondering, Crit Fails are not covered by Lucky Chant unless one Further Empowers it with Will; something Florges neglected to do in her rage....)

Instead of putting themselves out, they only intesify the Burn, instantly elevating it all the way to Burn 3 and take 3 Lethal Damage on the spot! 12/14 Effective HP, - 2 Pain, - 3 STR, 3 Lethal Damage!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MAKE IT STOP, MAKE IT STOP!

Wish 4
No Dice! Going to Luck Dice!
(3) Bzzt! Nope! Yet ANOTHER Fortune Roll!

(2)(4)(3) 2 Fails, 1 Success...

Florges' Wish does NOT come true - in fact, it fizzles EXPLOSIVELY, causing the entire FIELD to erupt in Flames! Fire Pledge Effect Activated!!!

EVERYTHING catches Fire in the garden and a horde of flowery Fairies began to flee from it in a PANIC!, rushing past you and into the surrounding forest! You hear their screams intensifies as the sound of roaring, cackling, and sharp tearing and biting noises explode in an near Uproar from those dark and tanglely woods. Oh shit...

The Lady Fae responsible overseeing this glade no longer can - her eyes were beginning to melt from the almost literal hellfire she inadvertidly Magicked into existence. Everything that could go wrong did - a fact that would drive her over the edge in a furious RAGE if she was not already driven mad by the HORRID BURNING PAIN she's in! A madness she expresses by blindly and recklessly rushing at Nalu, a flaming wreath and AURA of flower petals swirling around her in rapid, delirious, erratic motion!

PETAL DANCE 5!
DEX (*4 [TOTEM PD Activated!]) + Fight (3) + Brawl (4) - 2 Pain - 10 Dice = STILL No Dice!
Another Fortune Roll for the Poor Lady...!

(3)(4)(2) 2 Fails, 1 Success.

Florges fails to start her RAMPAGE, collapsing on the ground and starting to roll frantically around, taking 1 Lethal Damage and is now Confused! 11/11 HP, 4 Lethal Damage!!!

Burn 3 Check
VIT 3 - 6 = Nope

Florges takes 3 MORE Lethal Damage! 8/8 HP, 7 Lethal Damage!!!

Flame Pledge Check
(*6) Florge automatically takes 1 Fire Damage due to being Burn 3! 7/8 HP, - 3 Pain!!!!
(-) Nalu takes no Damage due to being a Water Type!
(2) YOU take no Damage!

You stare at the inferno that has engulfed the once flowery pocket of safe haven and sanctuary, now reduced to a roiling sea of fires that reduces all life to a crisp. Only you and Nalu have seemingly been spared the bite of the flames - all else has and is currently being cooked into ash. Chief among them the once mighty Florge, now reduced to a wailing, flailing animal, blinded by Pain and her eyes steadily dripping and sizzling away, and half way turned into a charred husk.

All of this chaos, all this horror, simply because of a simple Burn and some truly wretched Fortune.

You have a feeling that if The Laughing-Cruel One was aware of this She'd be tickled even pinker at this horrid turn of Fate against her abandoned court and Totem. You're not sure if She'd Punish you for this or give her Blessing for all this supreme schadenfreude - knowing Her, it'd be both.

Technically, the Battle is still ongoing, so if you want to finish things...

He stands frozen in shock for a second before springing back into action. Capturing or leaving her to die would just be straight up cruel so he decides to... end her misery before jumping ship.

''Return Nalu, good job out there. Now finish her off Kayla!'' This wouldn't be pretty but it's preferrable to burning to death some more.

''Kayla..'' he sighs, his voice full of pity, ''Use Heavy Slam.'' (1 dex + 3 fight + 3 brawl +2 action = 9d6) Note: 1+1 more damage dice for every 50kg over the opponent (sadly a cap of 4), mudsdale weighs 920 kg.

Now to get out of here. Using Kayla's help to stomp out a fire free path to the totem he drags what remains of the once so dazzling Florges there. An offering is an offering, it was time to go.

I'm not going to Roll for this - Florges is in far too much excruciating agony, Confused, and deeply disturbed to coherently make a plan of Action besides 'aimless Flailing about' , so Kayla does as commanded with a rare grim seriousness: one moment the Lady Fae is screeching her heart out and trying to desperately end the PAIN SOMEHOW, WHY HAVE YOU FORESAKEN ME, WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE ABANDOMENT, WHY DID YOU RUN AWAY AND LEAVE US, WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA -

...the next she's crushed underneath the cold Steel might of your trusty work horse. Her voice is cut off with a low key crinkling yet goopy sound *crunch* that you could barely pick up over the Fire raging throughout the Field, and one solitary and UnBurnt arm is outstretched to the very Heavens themselves, as if beseeching them for mercy, any mercy of salvation....

...Before it falls, limp.

Totem Florge is Dead.

Nalu gains 20 XP; Kayla gains 5 XP; PC gains 20 XP

Kayla quickly (for her) plods off of the remains of a ancient and diminished Totem, long abandoned by its Leader God, leaving it for you to collect and Give to your Patron.

How you do so is up to you, but when it's Offer to the Bowl....the corspe dissolves into particles and is drained into it, staining it a sooty pink for a mere moment before it clears.

For a long time, nothing.

Then -

*PLEASED, MOST PLEASED*
*EXCELLENT PRICE, GREATLY SUFFICIENT*
*BOON GIVEN, BOON EARNT*

....And out comes a Rare Candy -> 1/2 XP Cost of Next Attribute, Skill, AND Specialty Purchase [Do not have to buy all at once] to Target that eats it, and a Smoldering Sappy Miracle Seed -> Fire Moves have + 2 Accuracy, Grass Attacks have a 2D6 Chance to Burn 2 a Target, Water Moves deals + 2 Damage Dice against Ice and Steel Types, and Moves with Burn by default gain + 1 Damage

...Demanding, whimsical, and capricious The Old Ones can be, you can't say they don't give Fair Reward if they feel it is due. Whether or not its worth on a personal level, however....

Your Patron chimes in soon again, not giving you much time to dwell on things.

*EXCHANGE CONCLUDED, WELL AND DONE*
*DEPART FOR THIS REALM, MEET WITH BRAVE SOULS*
*GIVE OFFERING OF LIFE-BLOOD OR FORTUNE-BOON TO KEY-STONE*

And with that the Bowl goes still once more, leaving you alone with your Mons in a still Burning Field.

Guess it's about time to leave, unless you have something else that needs be done. If not, you head to the Dias, and have to make a choice: Give Blood (Lots), or Give an Item (Valuable)? Life, or Prosperity? Choose.[/b][/i]

He returns his pokemon to the safety of their balls and takes out a small hunting knife from his backpack.

''Blood, the elixir of life, of great importance to the living, much less to those unfortunate. A *lot* has happened today and I shall return. May these sacrifices be woth it.''

He places a cut on his left arm, large enough that it won't take too long but small enough to easily bandage later should it be needed.

''We shall begin''

The knife slides into your skin like silk through the wind - you hardly begin to feel it until a steady *drip drip drip* of your Life Blood flows into the hollow in the Dias. Thick, red blood that was glittering with Vitality and Health, almost giving off a ruby like sheen as it filled the space up. You lose 5 HP, and feel a bit tired....

Once it was filled you removed the knife from your arm, and almost immediately the cut began to seal up, the edges of the wound starting to seal together. I'll take about an hour for the Wound to vanish...

After a second the Blood from the Dias begins to drain away to somewhere, and one by one the Fa'Ce Gate Old Unown Ruins flicker to life, casting a elderitch pink glow. Once every single one was lit, a portal appear in the opening, a blue-black-sparkling abyss-path that would lead you safely out of this abandoned realm.

You took a deep breath, sent a quick prayer to your Patron, and then boldly stepped through....

TO BE CONTINUED IN THE GROUP MEET UP POST....
