[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

"Well, I think that's all we're going to learn from this place for now.  Magic was definitely used to entrance the folks who were here, convince them to follow whoever decided to visit.  It's all over the walls, the pokeballs, the floor...but weirdly, not where the healing machine was.  It all leads back to that circle as well, which likely also doubles as a trap for those not expectin' it.  Someone behind the counter had a pendant with another magical symbol on it.  Maybe something that had some minor influence or that acted as some kind of signal or somethin'.  Gettin' a clearer picture of how parts of this were planned in advance, but still missin' a few key pieces of information.  I need to contact an expert about this.  And also get the cops to look for these clues in the other affected locations.  And maybe get the building locked down even more tightly since that circle is still active."

>>I’ve been thinking. If that runic circle works let me a portal, could it be used to launch a direct assault?
“Sylvia…”
>>We both know I’m not ready to participate, Randy, but it’s a thought. Likely it leads rather to a holding cell or incapacitates those it transfers, but it’s a distinct possibility. Perhaps mention it to the Authorities - I don’t know.

"My card.  You two have been a great help.  You need somethin' from me or learn anything more about this investigation, gimme a ring or a text.  I've got a little influence 'round these parts as far as workin' 'round the lockdown goes.  Doin' the suits a few favors, so I get a few perks, if ya catch my drift."

>>Will do. And if you need communication with a ‘mon- ah, no, never mind. You’ve got that covered. But once everything is sorted out, I would like to know the outcome. If I’m not involved already, that is.
“Please don’t be.”
>>I make no promises.

Do Randy and Sylvia get on the Group Chat in time to catch Bernhard’s message?

Otherwise, what’s next for my pair is trying to find a treat (even through the lockdown I’m sure it can be accomplished) for Murkrow (and maybe a little something for Sylvia, who knows), and then trying to see if the Embassy is still open.

Seddi will cross his arms and frown at Sylvia's suggestion about using the circle as well.  "That's my workin' theory as well, given the magic all leads back to it.  Until we know how that circle works and where it might lead though, I wouldn't recommend tryin' anythin' with it.  You saw what it did to me and my 'mons.  Not pleasant, I can assure you."

He'll raise an eyebrow briefly after Sylvia's comment about him 'having that covered', but won't comment on it himself.  "I'll keep ya updated on what I find out.  Makes sense if you're gonna continue to assist with this matter."

I don't think Seddi would add Sylvia and Randy to the group chat quite yet.  Doesn't know enough about who they are and what they're doing yet, but he'll still be happy to stay in contact with them as an individual. And he's definitely the kind of guy you want to have on dial if you need a little help navigating the political side of this city right now Wink

Retcon: if we’re nearing the end of the third encounter, a place to sleep is probably my priority. Though that may be at the Embassy anyway, I’m not sure.

"I'd always heard of Dewgong as being bluish-white. Water and Ice type. How about here?"

"Dewgong, I don't think you need to concern yourselves too much, but apparently the attackers were some kind of gang, and there might be a mystical or high-tech element involved too."

Vernon will answer any of their questions honestly.

"But that's not really what I came here to talk to you about. Is the issue between the two of you? Or is it between you and the human world? I bet I can help either way. I'm a neutral observer - I'm not even from around here, so I have no bias if it's a diplomatic problem. If it's a more technical problem, why, then I can bring a variety of my different Pokemon friends to bear. That's the big advantage humans have. We're never confined to just one biome."

Vernon is ready to play some Twenty Questions and get down to the nitty gritty of their problem.

Action: Oz will take this encounter and make as much Energy Jam to all medics I can. Restore everyone strengh can help a lot!

(Again, sorry for how long it has taken to update ya, mate, but here we go!)

Alright, right now you current have 5 separate orders for 'Energy Jam' coming your way! Same Roll as the last time, with a + 1 bonus to the 3 order and beyond due to you becoming more familiar with making it!

Medicine Roll Used: Insigh(4)+Knowledge(4)+Medicine(3)-2 roll = 9D6 Base

O1: (6)(2)(2) (6)(5)(3) (5)(1)(1) 3 Successes!
O2: (5)1)(5) (4)(3)(4) (5)(6)(6) 7 Successes!!
O3: (3)(5)(2) (1)(2)(1) (5)(3)(2) 2 Succeses!
O4: (5)(5)(4) (6)(5)(3) (6)(4)(2) 8 Successes!!
O5: (6)(3)(4) (5)(3)(2) (1)(3)(6) 5 Successes!

Your makeshift recipe for this natural pick-me-up went rather well, for the most part. A couple of them were less than impressive but still perfectly functional (ignoring the grimaces the docs/nurses made taking their 'medicine'), but the rest? They were almost glowing with vigor and looking pleased as a Pecha after enjoying the fruits of your labor! The docs that got your best results even tipped you a Lemonade (Works same as in Core Book) and Ultra Snaxs (Works same as in Core Book) ! Not bad, for a brand new natural remedy!

As you wiped the sweat off your brow after all that meticulous work, you hear a not so small commotion coming from one of the nearby tents. Your healer Instincts and compassionate heart pinged, you rush over to see the Doctor that first 'greeted' you trying to hold back a frantic Trainer, motioning to them to calm down, to no avail.

"Sir, sir, these tents are only for triage, you can't - "
"Can't, cant?! My Juniper needs treatment NOW, or she'll wither away!!! Please!!!"

An opportunity arise: do you want to meet it head on, or pass it up so as not to antagonize your fellow medic or possibly screw this up?

"Wow, really? Man, that funky! Those blokes would cook down here 'less they lived in the Taiga! Our Seels and Dewgons are all Water and Ground Type! Big, tough, and hard to take down, but they fear the seaweeds man - or a Grass Type like your lil' turtle!"

Contrary to your belief they seemed very offended by the idea of someone attacking the Centers, let alone actually DOING it. The Inner Horn one seems particularly incensed, spitting of what looks to be a Hyrdo Pump off to the side, akin to spitting in disgust.

1st Question: The Outer Horned Male nods - the IH one scowls , but after her prior outburst doesn't seem motivated to lash out at you playing mediator for now.
2nd: A hesitant shake of his head - the IH one isn't sure about this.

When you mention 'technical problem' the OH tilts their head, as if intrigued but uncertain by what you mean. A bit of clarification later and they brighten up and nod, before drawing what appears to be a oval shape in the sand and making some sort of 'going away' gesture.

Insight (3) + Contest (0) + Empathy (0) + 1* (Demostration) = 4D6 Dice
(3)(4)(2)(3) 1 Successes

You have a hard time trying to figure out what they're on about, but you think it has something to do with losing whatever that oval shape represents. The IH one gets riled up again by the 'performance' , turning towards their counterpart and letting out an angry 'Bark' , as if to say this was all THEIR fault. The OH one seems to be irritated by this claim, but for now keeps their calm, looking back to you with expectant eyes...

Oz was determined and panting a lot from going from place to place. She was nervous at first when preparing the first drinks, because of her lack of experience in such long while. But after getting used to the pace of the others medics, she begin to learn and get quicker and quicker, making drinks almost as quick in deliver them to the doctors.

As she wiped the sweat, she indeed hear the commotion, and quick go there, seeing both the doctor and the trainer. She rush to them and then quick ask. "What happen doctor Peace?" Then she looks at the trainer and then tell him, trying to calm him down. "Sir, what is the medical treatment you need? And what you mean she will wither away?" Despite the situation, Oz try to act as professional, and do whatever she can do to help. In such situation, you cannot ask your patient to calm down. First you need to ask what is the problem, and how it can be helped. If you ask the patient to calmdown without trying to help, it will only make the patient more nervous, and less likely to help. Show you be there for them is a good start to help in the healing.

"So the issue is between the two Dewgong, and involves a missing oval. Perhaps you're putting some of the blame on your buddy, eh?"

Vernon hunkers down to draw in the sand too. "Is the oval an animal, such as a Pokemon? A vegetable? Or... a mineral?" Vernon clearly expects it to be this last one.

If it's an Animal, he'll try to narrow down if it's a missing child Pokemon, maybe playing 20 questions with typing.
Mineral, he'll list Evolution stones, gems, all the battle items he's ever heard of. He'll also enlist Chief's help because there might be something unique to Sutalorian Seel.

If he figures out what they're after, he'll begin trying to ascertain where it went off to.

"Of course I am," she says, puffing up her chest as you once again admit her superiority, but grows bashful and quiet when you elaborate, head bowed for a moment before looking back to you with a tender smile.

"Thank you, Berny. I'd be nowhere good without ya too, so let's call ourselves 'even' on that front, yeah?"

Zephy shakes her head in exasperation at you outright saying you got reckless, but again can't remain irritated when the reason for being that way is endearingly understandable.

"*Giggles* Can't help but be a knight errant, a wandering hero, despite swearing up and down otherwise, eh 'Erni ? *Sighs* It's worrying to see you like this 'cause of that, but you wouldn't be the best Partner if you didn't have a heart the size of a Wailord, eh he. *Smiles* I'm glad to hear you'll be bit more spooky when it comes to dangerous things - invisible, out of sight, until the right moment strikes!"

Your artistic mouse nods at your concern, then tells you that she ended up putting Mr. Gleam to rest up properly in his own bed. "Wouldn't want him infirm because of the too firm floor after Sleeping off some of that stress!"

===

The request to be 'Moved around' gets a frown from her, but seeing your determination she lets out a sigh and nods, waving a paw in an 'Oh very well!' sort of manner. She then proceeds to do some faintly fanciful gestures with her paws at you, before you suddenly find your body sitting up and then standing involuntarily! The sensation was jarring, but strangely not unpleasant, and you didn't feel anymore tired or Exhausted from it.

"Puppeteering and 'Movement' base Arts is more Meoletta's wheelhouse, but with you this knackered and my Solid Rock connection with you I can 'Assume Control' over you directly. Won't be able to use most of my other powers 'sides Levitation or maybe some minor miracles here and there, since this is taking a LOT of my control and focus to do this right without messing you up any further. Still, better than being a couch Berry for the rest of the night when you got stuff to do, even if I wish you Rest up. Oh well, I guess the old saying is true - no rest for the true artists out there!"

You are 'walked' to his room to confirm that he is indeed Resting up - and looking a lot better for it - and then go see Myra and Nirix, who are current standing watch over Saph, with the former waving her tails around in some vaguely spiritual manner while the later kept intent watch. The two were VERY surprised to see you 'up and about' , and you nearly got Tackled to the floor by an overexcited and relieved fox before your Muse scolds them and gives a brief overview of your condition. Your kitsune looks mortified and worried, while your valiant unicorn is now looking at you with that same intent focus. From your Bond with both you can tell they REALLY want you to rest up and feel ashamed of their part in you getting like this - what says you to THAT?

Regardless, your next stop is the kitchen to check up on the Uni-Cure All...

...And find the place to be in perfect order, with the stock pot containing the magical brew still in place and clean as it can be, if covered. As you go to remove the lid to check up on it your arm weakly twitches to your side, making you realize that A) you're still too tired to do anything by yourself, and B) Zephy didn't follow your intent automatically. Giving/sending her a 'look' she gives you a Mareepish smile before bringing out a pair of shades from....somewhere and puts them on your eyes.

"Uh...yeah, you're going to need these. Trust me. Now, let get you seeing what fresh heaven you cooked up!"

'You' finally remove the lids from the pot, and feel your eyes squinting automatically as a bright white light blasts out, as if you flicked on the switch to a overpowered flashlight! Getting used to the intense glare takes you a few seconds, but once you do it's relatively easy for you to focus on it.

And it is pure. potent, and powerful. The Uni-Cure All you made...it has gone well BEYOND your expectations and, frankly, your expertise and Skill. The liquid is a clear yet dazzling golden, white sparkles popping in and out intermit idly in it. The smell is near indescribable, but you get a strong sense of 'Purity' and 'Wellbeing' from the 'aroma' . Breathing in the aroma, you feel that sense of Exhaustion being pushed back, a bit of your regular vigor returning, if only momentarily.

This Uni-Cure All - no, this Panacea of Life was perfect. Created against all odds against forces most foul through pure Fortune and grace given, this potion transcends what you set out to make.

Still, it is not beyond modifying - you can, with the other Unit of Alpha Cure All, divide this brew up into three separate doses, creating three Panaceas that, while greatly diminishing the overall strength of the potion, should be effective for most anything - even, perhaps, the Curse that young Saph suffers. On the other hand, you could simply leave the Panacea as is and reserve it all for Saph - this goes against your frugal, covetous desires as a Scimitar, but it's also the most surefire way of making sure the girl gets her medicine right.

Choose :
* 3x Panacea (1/3 Strength of the Original Brew) - Each act as a Full Restore + Max Revive, does not Count against Potion Effectiveness as well as Resetting it and giving '+1 Full Effective Use of Healing Items' to Target [Indefinite] . Cures most Status that exist and will exist; its effectiveness against Curses and more esoteric magic effects is Unknown, but likely Effective in some manner. Can revive someone from Death once, at 1/2 HP, with 1 Round of Death/Faint Immunity, but only if used immediately on them.
* 1x Mega-Panacea - Becomes a Key Item and Minor PD - Full Effects are Unknown, but you can assume it can do everything that the Panceas can do and THEN SOME. Almost assuredly will have an impact on anything.

MP is 3x Stronger than an individual Panacea; the Panacea itself is 3x Stronger than what should've been made. The creation of this Alchemic Item is Unique: this is something you normally could not make with your level of expertise and/or the ingredients and techniques you used. A Miracle happened, however, and so it was made. A gift from the heavens, in this day and age of Humanity, and all the more priceless for it.

===

Zephy has zero complaints about Resting in Mr. Gleam's house - "I would've suggested it if you hadn't, 'Erni! 'Sides, unlike you I don't mind crashing with friends and good company!" - but when you manage to force yourself closer to her and deliver THAT line her expression turns surprised....then meek as you finish, letting out a nervous giggle and looking off to the side.

"Eh he he....well Shards. Almost thought that could've been ignore, 'least a bit longer. *Sighs* Oh alright. Let's chatBernhard."

(...)

After (presumably) exchanging contact info with Randy and Sylvia, Seddi will head back outside to update Dodger on the situation.

"Should probably lock the building down even more tightly, Dodger.  There's an active magic circle in there, and it's got a hypnotic effect on anyone who focuses on it for too long.  Would have probably gotten me if it weren't for the folks accompanying me inside snappin' me out of that stupor.  Might have caused me to vanish too if they hadn't.  If you can get the teams at the other Centers on the same page, have them look for a pendant like this one at each location.  Found this one behind the main counter.  Varmints probably used these to start small before makin' their big move.  And while you're doin' that, I'm gonna go have a sit down and see if I can get some more magically adept help involved.  We might be findin' ourselves at a dead end sooner rather than later without some more suitably skilled individuals."

And with that, Seddi will find a bench somewhere and send a very short and blunt text to Bernhard, asking the question that's been on his mind the entire investigation.  Time to stop beating around the bush and figure out what's going on with that mage. (of course, what Seddi doesn't know is that Bernhard is out cold at this current time)

Bernhard, did you hear about what happened this morning?

The 'visor' of sorts comes off easily - in fact, it's in your hands the moment your intent to remove it was made. You can't help but rub yours eyes afterwards afterward, however - going from 'Sightless' vision to the one that you were born with was not easy on the eyes. - 1 on Insight and Vision/Alert Checks for this and the next Encounter.

(...)

Once you could separate Dodger from the suits and cops he was coordinating with - or rather he boldly abandoned them once you made your presence known and intent plain enough - you dutifully update him on everything.

In the beginning the dandy man grew worried, his concern visible and palatable, but the moment you mentioned 'hypnotic magics' and that you could've been kidnapped yourself his expression....it hardens. No, that is not quiet right - it goes neutral. Dangerously so. A pale descends upon him and all around, with all the officials and cops suddenly looking his way, shooting either concerned, nervous, or grave looks, and you can't help the shiver than tingles along your nerves. This air...this weighty sense of danger....it heavily reminds you of that moment you shared with the Quicksilva Star. The moment you discovered just how capable he was and could be, at any given moment.

Then, it's gone with a long, long *Siiiiigh* . Rodger closes his eyes for a moment, before slicking his hair back and looking at you and giving a nod. Coincidentally, the rest of the tag alongs let out breaths they were holding, relieved, but now growing serious themselves.

"Alright," he says, crossing his arms, "Cops, Lock Down the Center tighter than a Clamping Cloyster. This goes for all locations - nobody goes in or out without us coming down on them," he says, and immediately the police around him hop to him, including what appears to be a Police Chief. You could see the PC using his Dex and Radio a moment later - no doubt sending the Orders out.

"Between the evidence you collected, the Murkrow's testimony, and your own - as well as a Psychic scan of them, with your permission - I should be able to wrangle M.E.T.A and A.E.G.I.S into this sordid mess without any hassle or red tape Gunk Shoting things up. Between them and the greater draw this case will have, they and the city government should be able to handle this shortly. No telling how long it'll take for us to catch wind of these bastards, but they WILL be Caught. One way or another."

Dodger then lets out another sigh, and favors you with a small smile.

"Thanks for the help, 'specially after you put your neck on the line for us, intentionally or not. I owe you a drink later - me, you, and your friends can get it at The Afterlife. *Chuckles* Oz can tell ya about it later, but you'll have a blast there, count on it. I'll be stuck here for awhile longer while I iron the final details out and get the super spooks on the ringer, but if you can wait I can take you and anyone that wants to join to the Afterlife straight after. *Shrugs* Well, if that meeting of yours is now canceled, that is - might want to get in touch with the one setting it up and see if you guys still want it Tonight. I probably won't make it myself, as the suits and the Heads probably want my ear before the night is out, but I'll try to at any rate."
